What part do Kobe and Magic have with MJ's funeral?

First off let me introduce myself....I've registered only recently but I've been reading these forums since the beginning of the 2007 season. I live in New York and am going to college next year, hope to move to LA one day.

Anyways, I JUST saw Magic and Kobe 2:16 PM Eastern on TV, but I was wondering what exactly are they doing? I know Kobe is an embedded part of Staples Center, but I was kind of surprised when they were on stage.

I understand the whole symbolic nature of the relationship, but I didn't know if there was anything else.

It was funny, because I asked my roommate why the hell Kobe was there. He said, it's in Kobe's house. :lol:

My roommate was there on the 20th row for the funeral. He's a Jackson and grew up with them. Funny how he mentioned that when the Jacksons went over to play basketball at Quincy Jone's house against his kids, they always beat them. Quincy Jones said the same thing.
