you can merge this if you want,

just something to take note of:

Artest signing tonight means.. Lakers are confident they can re-sign Odom because there's no Rox S&T - no MLE - no $ left.

Did Artest accept the 3 years/18 million or 5 years/33 million?

It says 3 years/18 Million

I think he can still take the latter, but I think he's taking the 3 years deal

(i prefer that one)

I agree with Pincus on this one.

According to OC Register it is a 5 year deal but I think they may be mistaken. 3 year deal makes the most sense given how we are handling our business with everyone else.

Artest signed a deal for three years, $18 million, but Artest has the option of extending two more years to the deal for a total of five years and about $33.8 million.

Looks like a 5 year deal with a player option for the 4th year. If Ron picks up that option, his 4th year and 5th year are guaranteed. If he opts out, the Lakers have his bird rights by then.

"The Lakers took both Brown and Artest to dinner but to separate locations."

...Shanny went to Morton's Steak House with Mitch, and Mitch took Ron Ron to a danger dog cart on La Cienaga...welcome to the Lakers boys!

Man I think the move might just be to offer LO a one year 7.5M and he'll be a FA again next season when more cash is available and a lot more options. I really am OK with him leaving if he is offered more elsewhere. The NBA salary cap is sad, our big three takes up such a huge chunk of it, Lamar might just be getting paid by Apple next season.

Mitchell is now the best GM in the NBA ;) he's thinking big picture as any GM should, the Big Spainard comes due next year and he's nearly eclipsed KB24 as far as THE asset on this team, he's going to be 1st team NBA next year I really believe it. Pau rose to the top this year, and still didn't get the true credit he deserved.

Go Mitchie it's your birthday, Go Mitchie...Look how happy Mitch is shaking Ron's hand in that pic on the LAL site. Good for you Mitchie! When was the last time you saw Mitch smile?

You guys realize we have to sign Odom to. If we don't we stand pat. No more signings. This team as is is not better then the Magic or Celtics and probably not the Spurs or Cavs. There are no replacements or Mcydess or anything it's Odom or nothing.

Signing Odom I think will happen but with some Saving Face Negotiations for Both.

I heard on the Radio re: Artest and Ariza.

If Kobe goes down who can carry a team until Kobe comes back. It was simple

Artest/Odom/Gasol is a pretty legit team

vs

Ariza/Odom/Gasol is a good nucleus but cannot hold down as many games as the Artest team.

Really gone miss the play of Ariza but Artest will keep us incontention

You guys don't understand Artest's game at all. I'm a Rockets fan and he will be a detriment to your team

j/k congrats on signing this guy, likely looking at a repeat championship

Artest must've only signed a 1 yr.

He clearly said in his Michael Jackson tribute rap that he'd see Mike next year in heaven, so he's planning his escape from this world as we speak.
