OT:ESPN 710 New Show Andrew Siciliano & Mychal Thompson

With a format change the local 710 ESPN station changed it's 11am-3pm time slot with former Fox radio host Andrew Siciliano along with Mychal Thompson formerly of "The Loose Cannons" on 570 KLAC.

These guys should give Chris Meyers and Steve Hartman a run for their money in the mid day time slot. Siciliano is funny and witty as is Thompson also.

It's nice to have MT back on the radio. Give your thoughts on this new tandem.

was 710 local from 12-3 before? i never listen to it. i get super reception from 570 but sucky from 710.

Chris Meyers and Hartman do suck. I was listening to Hartman the other day ranting about a caller calling out his statements as racists even when Hartman didn't even use the term. Hartman got all emo about it and kind of killed the show at that point.

Will be nice to have an alternative.

meyers is annoyingly generic and hartman tries too hard to troll people.

andrew siciliano's always been funny when kevin and bean had (have?) him on during the nfl season for weekly picks.

Yeah this show is much better. Meyers doesn't seem like someone I'd like to go to a game with or watch basketball with. MT is sick, I like him, today was the first day I'd heard Siciliano but he seems better than the Hartman or Meyers. Hartman just wants attention.

Yeah it was, Mason and Ireland was on at the 11-3 slot.

Oh, Denholm & Long are gone, they were actually OK, their show was carried by the callers text messaging them all day long, Denholm has been around for a while that was a show that actually worked for him finally, because Long knew how to move the show.

Hartman & Meyers work, but nothing special, although Meyers has near Dan Patrick's roladex to pull top dog guests from. Sofa king he called Steve a racist man of course Hartman is gonna strike I didn't blame him when the term racist is used as a crutch and not warranted.

Sciciliano is annoying, but he's improved over the years, he still has ears bigger than his head is 4 feet tall and thinks he's god's gift, but good to see nice guy Mychael bringing his half assed routine to radio... he doesn't do homework and just wings it, but he's still enjoyable to listen to.

The Big Show is getting moved that sucks, I think John Ireland is one of the best in the business for Laker fan, he carries Mason, but I just like JI's style, he brings up little tidbits about the LAL, others don't know, because he works for them of course and goes everywhere with them. insider opinions and first hand accounts of...

Besides the NFL which we have no local teams only the LAL matter anyway, who follows baseball anymore, so full of cheaters I could care less.

However, The Big Show takes a backseat to Dan Patrick, he has the best show in the business, with Rome right behind him, and then Big Show, that'd be my big three:

1. DP
2. ROME
3. BIG SHOW

IMO Denholm & Long gave no insight to the lakers. John Ireland(whos now in the time slot) has much knowledge about the lakers. He travels with them. Mason, of the John Ireland and Mason show said he hated th text context and thought it was stupid.

Denholm & Long are decent.

Chris Meyers and Hartman are awful.

Andrew Siciliano along with Mychal Thompson are ok. i knew andrew back when he was doing fox sports late night and was decent to listen to.

the show on 570.... after meyers and hartman... i think they have Petros Papadakis.....man that guy's voice is annoying.

Did they move mason and ireland? Im not a big fan of andrew siciliano at all. I remember he used to be the update guy for tony bruno years ago. I love mychael Thompson. Ill check it out on monday.

I can't stand the Dan Patrick show anymore. He's like Chris Meyers just an OG ESPN guy who gets a show because of what he's done in the past. And you pretty much have to listen to Pauly and that other guy Seton laugh at his lame jokes which aren't even funny. You can tell they're just kissing his a$$. Colin Cowherd is a better alternative in the morning.

I do also agree M&I show is the best of them all.

this is cool to hear, and myers and hartmann straight up SUCK!....

however, 710 is gonna have to wake up to the fact that their signal sucks worse that myers and hartmann...

lots of the 570/lakers success, imho, were due to the fact that that station can be heard from camp pendleton to santa barbara and all in between.

so my point is, does anyone know if espn has applied to the fcc for a stronger signal? cause if not the rating are gonna suck,because as i always say, 710 a.m. after dark cant be heard east of the 710 fwy.

Cowherd is talented, a smart guy, but too much so on his broadcast. He does this comparison thing that is to me just straight bad radio IMO. He does it constantly, an analogy of sorts and he hammers it like a bad SNL skit.

E.g. The Dallas Cowboys are like a scorned lover, you know when blah blah blah he'll go on for a half an hour about this until he gets to the next analogy that he thinks is brilliant...The Lakers Franchise is pure gold, not like the gold you see in a jewlery shop more like the pure gold from the streams in the 1940's...blah blah...

His spanning the globe segments are one of the brilliant things in radio, other than that hard to listen to. He talks football 24/7 that i love so i listen when it's in season a lot, off season, he's not as important.

dcash turned me on to the sports lodge with roger lodge blind date guy on 830AM in the mornings entertaining easy going sports show.

sports lodge, rome, dan patrick, big show are the ones that i like...cowherd during football season only.

BTW did hacksaw retire?

Hacksaw i think has his own show on Sirius last i heard. Not sure if he's still there or not.

I miss Kiley and Booms and Thompson and Hartman with Vic.

yeah i was truned on to 830 by dcash's suggestion in an earlier thread, but got hip to because 830 has my favorite curmudgeon of all time lee klein...

I just threw up a bit. Rome is the worst radio show ever. Who the hell wants to listen to mid west white people having a "smack down" and try and talk trash to each other? I could turn on Jerry springer if I wanted to see that. Rome is crap. He wouldn't still be in the business if it wasn't for him referring to Jim Everette and "Chrissie Everette" and almost getting his ass beat on television.

Dan Patrick is ok. Really bland and vanilla tasting for me though.

PMS is by far the best radio show on right now. They make traffic after work a lot more bearable. 8-)

PMS is good as well, Money's voice is annoying to me he's up and down with it for effect and it just bugs, believe it or not, i like Petros' voice plus he's just hilarious, i should have added those guys.

if you dont invest time in rome to know wtf is going on you wont like it.
