Stackhouse??

Post#1 » by joe.linnen » Sat Jul 11, 2009 2:49 am

I was wondering about this before the trade went down. I know that he would be cut. Stack would be a nice vet off the bench for us. I think he could provide some scoring off the bench and I just like that fact that he's a vet.

if he could be had for extremely cheap, then I don't see why not.

If we're going to sign a vet min, why not just pay Lamar the extra mil or two he's asking for?

We don't need another washed up dude on the bench costing us 3 or 4 million. Would it be nice to have an extra guy? Sure but our payroll is rediculous.

Just get Lamar signed first.

I was just thinking the same thing (Stack). If Jerry can provide that long range support that Sashabitch is so sorely lacking nowadays, I say sign him. Just as long as we have Lamar locked up. I'll be damned if I ended up trading LO for Stack this offseason.

PG - Fisher/Farmar/Brown
SG - Bryant/Stackhouse/Vujacic
SF - Artest/Odom/Walton
PF - Gasol/Odom/Powell
C - Bynum/Gasol/Mbenga

LOL............OP had Walton as a PF !, Walton has never played PF here. Plus Stack is used and damaged goods and we don't need him.

i wouldn't say never. he's played a handful of minutes at pf when foul trouble forced it.

Pretty sure he was abused in that short time.

I'd welcome him with open arms for the vet min. I'm pretty sure the league reimburses teams for minimum salary players so it shouldn't be a problem.

I assume Shannon would be playing a lot of back up 2 if Sasha & Farmar playing back up PG next season. Even Artest can be a god 2 while Kobe rests.

Would love to find a replacement for Sasha. Stackhouse isn't the answer.

People must not keep tabs on this guy.

Cuban has traded this guy... probably 20 times, and each time he "somehow" gets waived and ends up back in Dallas. The same can be said about Diop. Cuban is just exposing the loopholes of the system.

I think Stackhouse even got in trouble because he went public with this in the Jason Kidd trade. Saying he'll just get rest and come back. They had to take him out of the trade because the league barred him re-signing in Dallas if he was traded.

If the league reimburses on the tax sure I say why not. Promise him the backup job behind Kobe.

Trade Vujajic for a third-string PG like a Marcus Banks. That'll save about 2m including taxes this year. Trade Farmar off to save 3.8m and then wait until the deadline to save 4.2m by trading off Morrison+cash+a 2nd. You've saved a total of 10m by a couple of moves and you've given yourself a defensive specialist at the 1, plus a legitimate backup SG at the 2.
