Simple Question. Did Lamar play the 3 position ONCE this year. I know we all wanted to see the Odom/Gasol/Bynum trio but I don't think we saw it once all year. And I don't think Lamar was every in a lineup in which he played at the 3.

I remember us running with Pau/Powell/LO frontline against the Nuggets once when Melo was burning Ariza badly. I assume LO played SF for like 4 - 5 mins in the 3rd Q of that game and cooled off Melo. I can't remember many other instances.

I would like us to put this on the floor atleast once next year:

Odom/Bryant/Artest/Gasol/Bynum

Not really. I want him back though for a pf when bynun goes out.

According to 82 games, he played just a handful of minutes in two games, accounting for virtually 0% of our SF minutes last season.

Does it matter? As far as I'm concerned he plays a hybrid of 1, 2, 3, 4 and sometimes even 5 position (defensive boxing out and rebounding). I've always maintained that he's a swiss army knife type of tool for the coach to use because that's how Phil utilizes him. So, even if he's technically not listed as anything else but a four for many minutes on the year, during the course of all games he plays, he still performs the on-court duties of much more than "just" a PF.

Not that I remember. Either way he wont play there significantly. Especially now with artest there. Luke will get all backup minutes at the 3.

I only saw that specific lineup briefly in the preseason. Phil usually tried to test it after half time. I think he came to conclusion quickly that Bynum/Gasol/Odom wasn't going to work because he didn't test that lineup a whole lot either. He never used it again in the regular season.

I remember seeing Bynum Gasol and Odom on the floor at the same time in the regular season. I could be wrong, but I really do have an image in my head of them on the floor for one possession on defense or something. Ball was on the left side of the court.

No it wasn't, that front line never ever saw the floor together. Yoda (aka P Jax) thought we would be murdered in transition defense.

We never saw Bynum Gasol and Odom out there at the same time...

That would have been cool in garbage time of game 5 in Orlando!

We only ran the 7 7 7 lineup once. And that was in pre season for like 4 minutes. And that was it. Phil stubbornly has refused to go to lamar at the 3 with pau and bynum on the floor at the same time. I still would like to see it every now and then. Even for just little spurts.

iirc against the spurs when roger mason hit that and 1 to win the game. early in the 4th quarter phil put out a line up of bynum/powell/odom/kobe/ariza. while not the 'dream' line up it was still pretty good.
