Michael Beasley ... Your Thoughts

Post#1 » by The_Trade_Seer » Fri Jul 17, 2009 11:41 am

I want LO back in LA and think he'd be insane to take 5 years at 34 mil from the Heat while turning down 4 years at 36mil from the Lakers ... that's a no-brainer.

However ... if we could get Beasley for LO, the Lakers would be insane to pass that up.

Beasley is a stud, the #2 pick in the draft last year and would have been the #2 pick in this year's draft as well.

This is a kid that was more of a beast in college than either Blake Griffin or Kevin Durant!

This is a kid that put up per-40 averages of 22.4 ppg and 8.7rpg while shooting 47% from the field, 40% from 3 and 77% from the line ... all while playing a bit out of position for the Heat last year.

In the Heat's 1st round playoff series, when everyone (include Wade) was struggling, Beasley put up per-40 averages of 19.1ppg, 11.4rpg and 1.6bpg ... and that was after playing sparsely through the first 5 games due to blowouts.

In games 6 and 7, Beasly showed his vast potential putting up 39 points and 22 rebounds for per-40 averages of 22.4ppg and 12.7rpg!

LO on the other hand had per-40 averages of 15.4ppg and 11.0rpg for the season, while shooting a far worse FT and 3pt %, despite being 9 years older ... yup, 9 years!

By the way ... in the last 5 games of the season, Michael Beasley averaged 24.2ppg, 11.2rpg while shooting 56.2% from the field, 58.3% from three and 77.8% from the free throw line. He also had per-40 averages of 28.5ppg and 13.2rpg!

LOOK AT THOSE STATS PEOPLE ... MICHAEL BEASLEY IS AN ABSOLUTE BEAST AND A FUTURE PERRENIAL ALL-STAR!

If the Heat are offering a package of Beasley and Mark Blount for Odom, the rights to Elonu and $3mil cash and a future #1 we would be stupid to turn it down!

However if the Heat are offering a package of Beasley and Blunt for Odom and Ammo which I think they are, we should jump on it immediately!!!!!!

2009-10 LAKERS

PG: Fisher/Brown/Farmar
SG: Kobe/Brown/Sasha
SF: Artest/Beasley/Walton
PF: Gasol/Beasley/Powell
C: Bynum/Mbenga/ElonuAI-in-LA on March 13, 2007: Well, I could definitely see Kobe popping for 60 before this season is over, that's for sure.

As for why the Heat would do this ... the Heat want Odom and Boozer, not just one or the other. They saw what the three headed monster of Gasol/Bynum/Odom did last year and they want their own in Boozer/JO/Odom, which actually might even be better.

If the Heat can pull off the proposed Haslem/Wright/Quinn for Boozer and Beasley/Blount for Odom/Ammo/Cash/#1 their lineup would be championship caliber and look as follows:

PG: Chalmers/Marbury (I think they'll sign him)/Beverly
SG: Wade/Cook/Diawara
SF: Odom/Moon/Jones
PF: Boozer/Odom
C: JO/Anthony

That lineup has a real shot at being the best in the East next year, no doubt about it.

Now, my question is, what does everyone think of Michael Beasley. Is he a good fit for this team? Is he a future all-star, HOF'er or bust? Is he worth much more than Odom value-wise? Would he be a perfect compliment to Bynum at the 4 (I think he would ... a killer inside/outside combo who can both rebound)?

Personally, I think Beasley has prime year 30/11 potential on a bad, run and gun type team and solid 23/10 potential on a title team.

If he were to play for the Lakers next year rather than Odom I could see him getting 30mpg at the "4" as Gasol's back-up (Pau would see around 16mpg at center and 18mpg at the 4) and maybe 4 mpg at the SF position.

I could therefore see B-Easy averaging 16.5ppg and 8rpg next season ... not bad, but even better considering he could be in the P&G for the next 15 years and continue to get better and better and better.

Who said Miami is gonna trade Beasley, the dude they wasted and tanked a season, for a Lamar Odom? Let's be real, I know nothing's impossible but cmmon.

If LA had Beasley in the same situation as Miami is now and Miami comes offering Odom for Beasley, would you do it?

Answer: No.

EDIT: Especially since Miami can sign Odom theirselves anyways.

Locked. You posted the same in the LO thread. Don't need a new thread for this.
