The size advantage of the Lakers is now simply COLOSSAL !!!

Shaq and Yao are gone...

The best centers for the West are Duncan (PF) and Amare (PF)....

LO is the same size as our competitions centers (are you licking your chops)

If the Lakers can keep LO (even if they can't) the Lakers by comparison are bigger and meaner than any team out West. Between Gasol, Bynum, LO, Powell and MBenga those PF playing center for the rest of the conference aren't going to get as many boards. Bynum is going to break out. A Gasol / LO combination CAN KEEP EVERY BIG STUD IN THE WEST BUSY

What is Duncan or Amare suppose to do when they are playing center and the Lakers play a front court of 2 of the 3 following guys: Gasol, Bynum and LO...

THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO to shut down the front court... and lets see who is in on the wing...

The only chance ANY team has is to go small ball and put a human lighting bolt in a PG uni. It will work some... as in it might account for 12 reg season losses... IT DOESN'T WORK IN THE PLAY-OFFS!!!

LO and Mitch are drinking it up in Vegas and LO and the Lakers will be married until 34 or trade do we part...

This is going to be a great year... who is going to keep Bynum, Gasol, and LO off the boards... no stinken' PF is going to stop 2 7-footers and Odom... The Lakers WILL beat you down and post you up

And that is just the front court... don't even get me started on the wings...!!!!

he ain't in the west anymore, he got traded to the cavs a little while ago. LOL

Portland has Oden and Aldridge. I'm not that big on Oden, but I like Aldridge.

also the quick point guard option worried the lakers against houston w/o Yao and McGrady. I would have been worried if game 7 wasn't in LA.

San Antonio, even without as much of a FC as us, is still a team that can take us out. Never underestimate that team as long as they still have Pops and the big 3. They have experience and great coaching, and I look for them to be a very big threat this year after reloading with Jefferson and McDyess, not to mention having a healthy Duncan and Ginobili. If things fall into place for them, then it's going to be a great match up that could go either way.

all of the lakers' strongest competitors all got BIGGER. cavs got shaq without giving up much of anything, magic kept gortat and added bass. celtics added sheed. spurs added mcdyess.

Well as of right now you DON'T have Odom, so you're looking at Gasol and Bynum. Two towers, I'll give you that, but certainly not COLOSSAL. Amare could block out Gasol with one arm, he's not the toughest dude around. Hell, even a combination of Duncan and Mcdyess will give them a run for their money. Careful when you open your mouth so early...

It was an expression, as in Gasol's pretty much a vag!na. With that being said, I understand Gasol/Bynum > TD/McDyess. My point was just because Shaq and Yao are gone doesn't mean you guys have the greatest front court of all time. Its decent, but sure isn't great. I have never over looked the Spurs at all. The only time you can over look them is when you beta them and send them home. As a Laker fan I'm calling it now Laker vs Spurs in Conference Finals. Lakeins in 7 by no more than 10 points

Your a Celtics' fan right? You have a harder road to go then the Lakers would. You would either have to play the Cavs or Magic in the second round and then if you pass one of them they other will be waithing well reated to take on you. So what if you guys signed Sheed this offseason. It looks good on paper but that's about it. it looks good on paper. If you beat Orlando and Cleveland then you can come holla at the Western conference. Lebron James damn near beat the celtics by himself two years ago so I know that addind Shaq for nothing will only help him out more. And with Odom here we look like this: Bynum/Gasol/Odom/Mbenga/Powell/Artest/Walton so yeah I have the better front court, but as a Celtic fan your to stuck on your team as of now.


One last note even at your best you still can beat my Lakers

Neither Gortat, nor Davis will be on those teams in November.

Add in the Spurs front court:
Duncan/ Mcdyess / Blair plus you said if a team has a lighting PG. Well the spurs just happend to have the fastest pg in the league in TP.

Why are you guys so high on Mbenga and Powell? Did they break out last year? I still view them as bodies who can give you 6 fouls. Maybe I am missing something.

Gasol and Bynum do make a nice combo but lets not get carried away. Everyone of this years contenders have capable bigs.

Well technically it's Leandro Barbosa, I think he's faster than Tony. Even Arron Brooks might be also.

Nobody is overvaluing them I don't think, but Powell is decent and DJ is what he is......spot player if somebody is in major foul trouble.

Everyone may have capable bigs, but most are undersized. Denver, Houston, Jazz and Magic all found out how hard it is to stop size. Teams with 6'7" to 6'9" guys pose no threat to the Lakers in terms of length.

hmmi dont recall facing a top center our series vs houston when yao went out. did bynum break out then? nop

Bynum wasn't comfortable JUST like he wasn't comfortable last season in Nov and Dec. He is learning how to get back after an injury AND it had no play-off experience.

The Lakers are bigger now for the simple fact that Yao and Shaq are out of the conference and the center on the other good teams in the West are really PFs. Duncan is a beast (and maybe a true center, just don't him that). Bynum will use and abuse those 6-9, 6-10 PFs.

IF the Lakers get back LO they will be the best team in the west up front
Gasol / LO / Bynum is better than Duncan / Olddyce and Oden / Aldridge

Kobe / Artest is better than any other wing combo in the West.

Obviously the weak link is at the PG. But having the best front court and the best wings = another trip to the Finals. The Spurs will be good... the Lakers will be better

Nene, Kenyon Martin, and Chris Anderson are all very tough front court players. Gasol/Bynum/Odom may have more talent, but they certainly won't be pushing those guys around.

LA is the favorite out West with Odom, but in mind Denver becomes the favorite to win the West if Odom walks.

Without LO, your bench is abysmal, and you'll get to see every bit of that vaunted front line of yours on account of the foul trouble your bigs are gonna be in. You still don't have a PG who can stop the ball and starting D Fish is going to equate to a whole lot of Banging with Mbenga...
