Interesting, I wasn't giving the old Spurs enough credit. Manu just can't stay healthy, he'd be the key I'd think.

More like the Spurs are the best team in the west right now. If you guys aren't afraid of the spurs yet... you soon will be. Spurs have done a lot of work this offseason. Lakers still have work to do. Re-sign LO and get a decent PG. Fisher and Farmer arent going to cut it.

Everyone talks about Manu being healthy what about Bynum being healthy? I expect both of them to all full productive seasons.

Sure pop was complaining about the Gasol trade it was crap just like the RJ trade was crap. The salary cap has put a different spin on how business is conducted.

That being said salary cap management is extremely important. That's why I view the LO saga as a win win. If you sign him for 10mil per you are put in a bind financially. If you let him go you lose a contributing piece to your championship team.

Secondly you're reaching seriously with your "Spur cheerleading" and posting every single day on our board about how the Spurs are better than the Lakers. Do you actually think Laker fans are going to agree with you and say , "yeah the Spurs are better than us" ? Hell no, for one you have negative history going against you when it comes to the Lakers. The Spurs just haven't beaten them with any consistency.

And if the Lakers where worried about being in a bind financially, they would've never took on Gasol's contract........so your argument is garbage. Pop bitched and moaned like a punk about it but goes and pulled a move equal to a bank robbery and kidnapping together. At least the Lakers gave the Griz options that they were seeking, cap space, young players ( rights to Mark Gasol, and Javaris Crittenton ) and another first rounder in 2010. The Spurs gave the Nets........nothing of note.

Deep the only thing the Spurs stole from the Nets where a couple of championships. Spurs robbed RJ from the Bucks...who cares about the bucks anyway.

You gotta give the Spurs some kind of respect. They are by far the toughest competition you have in the west. If you plan on repeating you have to get past San Antonio, history has proven that.

Now for pop complaing about the Gasol trade he was dead on. That was one of the most one sided trades. You guys went from Kobe complaining about leaving to NBA contenders over night.

Hey good on Mitchcup for pulling the trade off but as a fan it was crap well at least for anyone other than a laker fan. The RJ trade was very one sided too but not completely earth shaking as Gasols'

San Antonio will have to beat Dallas to play us in the conference finals, something you have failed at twice if I'm not wrong. If anything Lakers should get the respect for being the defending champions and not the other way around.

Dallas doesn't concern me LA does and rightfully so... you guys are the champs. Pop is going to have the spurs ready. Will LA be as hungry?

How does Dallas not concern you when both teams have made one addition to their team and Dalls arguably signed the better player in Marion. San Antonio will be a threat only if Manu is back to being 100 % fit and athletic for an entire season. If he is fit enough to be the top 5 SG he was then yes its a WCF match up otherwise we could be playing Denver or Dallas.

The Marion of old was a nasty player but not the one I saw in Toronto and Miami. Looks like he's lost a step. If Dallas could have gotten Gortat they would be closer but Dampier is garbage.

Denver will be tough but they didn't improve any and SA always has there number.

Did you see Jeffesron play last year? I know the guy was in Milwakee and no one ever sees those games but the guy looked really good. I always liked RJ's game being very aggressive driving to the hole getting to the free throw line. The main thing RJ won't do more than what pop wants him to do. He's a team first player. Thats the key... everyone has to get their new additions to fit into your system.

I like Artest but do you honestly think he's not going to try and get his. The guy took a lot of ill advised shots in Houston what makes you think he won't do the same in LA especially with all those bright lights on him.

Bottom line the champs are the champs until dethrowned but you gotta give the spurs some respect. GM's, Players, and Owners around the league do.

You are familiar that he's played in the Triangle before right ? Secondly his "forced" shots were a byproduct of having to create too much, his shots will be way different playing with Kobe and Pau......you see especially against the Spurs !

To get respect you gotta earn it, 8-18 against the Lakers in the last 26 playoff games has the respect level for us fans at a real low right now. There are a few here that will give them way too much than they've earned but it is what it is. I respect them but fear them...............no not until they even up those games somewhat.

I don't see anything wrong with giving the Spurs respect. They have a great core unit, and they made some pretty safe moves with big upside. Remains to be seen how well it will work, but I would be surprised if it doesn't pay off. I'm actually pretty interested to see what Blair can do in his first year.

That being said, I don't think signing Richard Jefferson is a bigger signing than Artest. Of course, we don't know until we see how it all works out, but I think IF Artest finds a comfortable role in the Lakers lineup, then I think he will fill a much bigger hole for LA than Jefferson does in SA.

So do Spurs fans care at all about losing Oberto? I thought he played a lot of minutes for you guys.
