Who in the west can stop kobe now and more??

Post#1 » by kingkobe8 » Mon Jul 27, 2009 7:00 am

D. Jones is gone to the pacers
Bowen is old and is with the bucks
Battier maybe if he was lucky
Ariza isnt a good one on one defender
Artest is now a laker yaa

So my question is who will guard him in the west during the season. I believe that Kobe wont have to work as hard during the season as he did in the past because he will only have to see may of these defenders twice a season. Plus the scoring load will be much easier on him with Bynum healthy, Pau another year in the triangle, and Artest a proven 25 point scorer. I think its crucial to resign Odom because he brings everything to our team from scoring to rebounding, to if we have to play big or small. These games that Odom's agent is playing is bull crap.In the end I believe that Lamar knows where he is wanted and where he can win again.

In case that we do loose Odom, I believe we should try to go after Joe smith and Sheldon Williams and if Bruce Bowen get bought out . The Lakers bench without odom if very week I dont think luke, sasha, powell, and dj can be a strong enough bench for us. With teams like the Magic, MAVs, Celtics (puke) and the Cavs all becoming stronger it is crucial for us to sign Odom.

I would love to see us give more time to Adam Morrison. I truly believe that he can be the X factor for the Lakers. He brings great size and shooting to this team. If you saw him in the summer league this summer his shooting was dead on and was running the triangle pretty nice. With a year of training camp and with Kobe, Artest, Pau. and Bynum getting him open shots i believe he will succeed in this offense.

I say we find out a way to trade Sasha for anything if a few cheerleaders because he is looking like one these days.

Farmar will soon become soon show us why Mitch drafted him as much as he disappeared in the playoffs because when we play the conleys, brooks, and quick rookies in the league fisher wont be able to keep up with them.

I still have faith in the team without Lamar but in the end of the day. I believe he signs with us because in Miami he cant find good weed and he loves the Hollywood life. I hope we find out soon what he is going to because all of the free agents are finding homes. The other nba teams want the Lakers to get worse but that wont happen because we run this town. I was just bored tonight and thought maybe you guys like this>

Battier more often than not has good nights.
Durant - Another year in the league + his length could pose issues.
Ronnie Brewer - another possibility, on a really good night.

But having that other player to spread the floor is what will make it easier for Kobe to operate because the secondary defender can't cheat off his man. I had high hopes for radmanovic, that's also what made ariza's loss kinda hard to swallow. I sometimes thought Ariza hesitated on the long range shot preferring to try to drive.

Give the Lakers two out of the four: A resigned odom, a resurgent Sasha or Farmar, and a surprise Most Improved Player from Morrison, would make Kobe virtually unguardable in the west because they'd have to respect the open jumper.

Playing against Artest in practice could stop Kobe

The biggest challenge is to stay healthy...

both those guys don't know when to stop...

I could see them playing a 7 game 1 on 1 series after practice
Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!

You can't stop Kobe. You can slow him down and bother his shot but you are never going to stop him. He will still get his. Someone who I think has a good shot at slowing him down is Carmelo Anthony.

Only guard in the league that can stop kobe is kobe. When he plays selfish basketball and doesn't get his teammates involved the lakers have the greatest shot at losing. Outside that Shane Battier did a pretty nice job for the rockets.

I don't necessarily agree with you. 2 out of the 4 options I gave would probably make kobe unguardable.

1. A resigned odom,
2. resurgent Sasha
3. resurgent Farmar
4. a surprise Most Improved Player from Morrison

Morrison was a great college player but that doesn't necessarily translate to the NBA. Same thing goes for Summer league to the NBA. If that were true, Morrison and Blake Griffin will be all stars and NBA first teams....

add a healthy and dominating Bynum to that list and Kobe becomes even more unguardable. Giving a player of Kobes skill Pau Gasol in his prime and a young center of Drews potential makes him that much more unguardable.

And when is that, exactly? You could say that about every superstar player. This isn't the 2005-06 season where Kobe is surrounded by a bunch of tampons, so I don't see why you would even bring that into the conversation.

are you dumb? he said THAT kobe cannot be stopped, only he can stop himself. And for him to stop himself he must act selfish, He never said thats how kobe has been playing. learn to read you idiot.

Teams pretty much kill themselves when they turn all attention to Kobe especially late in games. Kobe holds on to the ball for a majority of the time and teams turn all their attention to him which frees up everyone else. All Kobe has to do is get the ball to another team mate because the opposing team barely has any attention on that player since its all on Kobe. In a way the Lakers are a pretty unbeatable team when everything is clicking and everyone is healthy. Kobe has more options to go to then any other player in this league and those options don't really need to work for their shot since Kobe will give it to them.

Kobe is unguardable but as a Nuggets fan Im actually more confident in Arron Afflalo coming in and trying to contain Kobe over Dhantay Jones over-rated ass...

you cant guard him period he's gotten to a point where every part of his game is polished when he was younger he would dunk on you and drive more he could still shoot but chose to use his athleticism now he has mastered the midrange and his post game is solid you just hope he misses

Yeah I agree Dauhntay Jones never actually did a thing. I'd love when he'd drive because you could put a number in the stat box for some Laker at either steal or rebound.

Easily Shane Battier. Houston is the only team that xan single cover Kobe and get away it.

Or the other teams can just let Kobe do his ****, while they try to stop his teammates from scoring and hope that kobe has a bad night. otherwise, shane battier is the only defender left.

Ariza cannot guard Kobe and even if he tried to it would be impossible because houston isnt making the playoffs.

Players that could guard Kobe are SF but now with RONRON teams are really going to have a hard time.
