Shannon Brown doesn't do weights?

not sure if anyone has seen this...

His 44.5-inch vertical - measured prior to his rookie season at the Lakers’ predraft camp - was in part of gift of genetics, but it would be assumed that Brown’s well-muscled arms didn’t just appear from nowhere. We assume he lifts some serious weights. Right?

Not really.

In fact, late in the season, Brown explained to us that while he did do some lifting in high school and at Michigan State, he has basically stayed away from weight training since entering the NBA.

You don't have to lift heavy to get the tone ShanBO has. A lot of reps can give you the results. You're not gonna keep the tone he has by not doing some sort of reps with the weights.

Keep in mind he is a darker skin tone, so he will appear more muscular than a white player...and yes, genetics are the only reason he is in the NBA.

White, black, brown, yellow, red, green... Shannon is stacked. Period. And while his natural athleticism is a huge reason for his success, it's not the only reason he's in the NBA.

Well that was an odd and (Please Use More Appropriate Word) comment. Anybody can see his arms are pretty defined no matter his color. :o

And there's plenty of genetic freaks that are not in the NBA because they can't make a jumper, can barely dribble, or have hands of steal, so that was an equally (Please Use More Appropriate Word) comment.

Well he's black...must have that gene in which he has higher testosterone than the average person.

Michael Phelps has never lifted weights either. It's possible to be extremely muscular when you do training specific to the sport that you do. Still, I do see an advantage in weight training. Never seen the point in players working the hell out their biceps though but have absolutely no chest or core strength.

He could be doing a lot of free hand workouts and be muscled like he is.

The link has info on that but I really think he hit the weights pretty hard when he was in school/college.

dude you are way to quick to call people names here. You don't take anybody else's points you just call them names. The darker the color the more defenation you see. That is a fact. I have a friend who is a body builder and before his competitions he tans and tans as much as possible and looks like a different guy twice as big and cut.
You need to learn some respect.

I was gonna post he should and imagine if he did and worked out his legs more maybe a 50 inch verticle but the trainer said no reason to risk injury. He's right.

Maybe this kid does have starter plus potential if he can work on his basketball,

Probably because he had few minutes, but I generally liked what I saw from Shannon Brown last season. What he does for weights and everything doesn't seem like an issue for him. He looks pretty built for a small guard.

His problem is low bball iq. He has a low iq for a sg so the transition to pg imo will not happen. I know I got excited and said he could start and average alot of points but realistically the only way that happens is if they have Kobe and Artest bringing up the ball or Odom.

He should work out his legs and try and get that verticle up to 50. That would make have the best dunks ever.

What is so challenging about bringing the ball up? Any gaurd in the league not named Sasha should be able to do. Hell if Fisher can do with no handles and speed then I am sure Brown will do just fine.

Brown will do great in extended mins with the Lakers starting unit if he can keep hitting the long ball. His D alone makes it worth while
