guys i just posted this on the bulls board...feel free to come on over and join the debate! also too, while you're on our board (bulls) please weigh in on "the top 10 list" of all time!
just kinda cruising the net here and something came to me. how do people (some do!) compare who's better, mj or kobe...take a look at this. michael has a season and a half over him (actually 124 games) at this point but still???
points: michael/32292-kobe/23820 (mj +8472) kobe would have to average 68.3 ppg in the next 124.
rebounds: michael/6672-kobe/5019 (mj +1653) kobe would have to average 13.3 rpg in the next 124.
assits: michael/5633-kobe/4401 (mj +1232) kobe would have to average 9.9 apg in the next 124.
steals: michael/2514-kobe/1441 (mj +1073) kobe would have to average 8.6 spg in the next 124.
blocks: michael/893-kobe/544 (mj +349) kobe would have to average 2.8 bpg in the next 124.
career fg%: michael/49.7%-kobe/45.5%
(assuming mj & kobe take same amount of shots in same amount of games...)
kobe has to shoot 61.7% from the field in his next 6375 shots (and maintain that fg% for approx 4 seasons provided kobe attempts 20 fga/g) just to match jordan's career fg%.
turnovers: michael/2924-kobe-2752 (mj avg-2.7/to gm---kobe avg 2.9/to gm)
kobe would have to average 1.2 to/gm (150 total turnovers) in the next 124 to match mj's 2.7 avg
to be totally fair kobe does edge out mj in 3fg% (34.1% to 32.7%) and ft% (84% to 83.5%)
rings: michael/6-kobe/4
mvps: michael/5-kobe/1
finals mvps: michael/6-kobe/1
all star mvps: michael/3-kobe/3 (appearences: mj/14-kobe/11)
rookie of the year '84-85 (michael jordan) kobe(?????)
defensive player of year '87-88 (michael jordan) kobe (?????)
please don't get me started on the playoffs guys...playoffs???? you talking playoffs????? (ha, ha, ha!)
so in a nutshell...
in the next 124 games (or the next season and 3/4) kobe's line would have to look something like this...
68.3 ppg/13.3 rpg/9.9 apg/8.6 spg/2.8 bpg (61.7% fg all while averaging only 1.2 turnovers/gm.)
with all that said, i still feel kobe is a top 5 player of all time but you now see the gap between #1 and the rest huh? so to all you youngsters out there who may have michael "edging" kobe as the best ever to lace 'em up or you might honestly think kobe's the best ever????? the lesson for today is.....
PUNKS JUMP UP TO GET BEAT DOWN!!!! (sorry for the caps mods, i know i promised i'd never use "that one computer" again but i relapsed for a millisecond there.)
up next to challenge the greatest ever???? lebron...you're gonna laugh again people!
don't you ever, ever, ever, ever, ever....challenge a lion!
