They got us ranked as 3rd, and San Antonio Spurs with Timmy, Tony Parker, and Manu as second and the Cs with K.G, Ray, and PePe as first.

I can see us being tied with the Cs with the addition of R-test but third???

Your take on this?

Kobe Bryant is fresh off his first NBA championship without Shaquille O'Neal and first NBA Finals MVP. Pau Gasol is fresh off a terrific postseason and his first NBA title. These two proved last season that they are a dynamic duo that is capable of great things.
So what did the Lakers do to complement these two star players? Oh well, they just managed to go out and sign a guy by the name of Ron Artest.
Bryant is the player who many believe is the best in the NBA. He is undoubtedly the best shooting guard in the NBA and best two-guard to play the game since Michael Jordan.
Gasol has thrived in the Triangle offense and showed that he is a fantastic second option on a championship caliber team. Artest is a former Defensive Player of the Year and when he has his head on straight, a marvelous two-way player.
Kobe is scary enough on his own, but when you add a possible top-five power forward in the NBA and one of the most feared defensive players that the NBA has seen this decade, you have the makings of a fantastic trio.

the other two trios are proven championship winners. no problem with them ahead of the lakers.

How the hell is KG, Ray and Paula "proven champion winners" when they've only won 1 title together ?

The way I see it that's the same as Kobe,Pau and LO, but given the fact Kobe has 4 I'd rank him ahead of them just because he's won and been on the big stage more than them.

huh?

edit: sorry for the short response, i was kinda taken aback that calling kg/pierce/allen proven champions would be questioned.

i agree with you about LO, but they dont use LO, they use artest.

Well if they used Ron then I can understand being ranked behind the Spurs, their trio has won more. But the Celtics I can't go for. Kobe's experience alone trumps anything those 3 have done in the Finals. Yet and still they've only won 1 title.

I dont get it we just owned the spurs the last two seasons,

the celtics had an early playoff exit last season. plus we also proved last season, that if we have a healthy team we can beat them.

and we're the CURRENT NBA CHAMPION

and we still end up ranked lower than those two teams? lol

I don't care who has the best dynamic duo or who has the best triple threat, Lakers have the best team and that's what counts. Some bitter Celtic fan probably wrote this.

i have no problem with the c's and spurs ahead too. obviously timmy parker and ginobili are proven and although the c's only won one so far together, the fact remains that they won together. of course they didnt win last year but they wouldve been poised to at least make the finals with a healthy trio.

also regardless of the fact that we won the chip last year, this is the first where kobe gasol and artest are paired up. so lets stop the hate cuz even if kobe won 4, the overall chemistry and possibility of how these three will work together is unkown.

Ya, I agreed with DC since the article is about the three players that writer selected and decided to use that he feels have made a great impact in these teams success.

I believe he didnt mention L.O since I guess the writer doesnt think that L.O actually has been a big factor in the Lakers success and achievements like the other players in this article have.

Yea I get all amp'd up too over pre-season rankings but they don't mean for ****...

2003 Lakers had Payton, Kobe, Malone, and Shaq, and it didn't mean squat for bringing home a ring. What's going to count are injuries and players drive.

You can't do much about injuries, but Lakers have Kobe, nobody is ever ever gonna question his competitive hunger. Then there's Artest, who took a pay cut to play with Kobe, on a defending championship caliber team. Put that with the Zen master a master motivator and I think Lakers have a good chance at repeating.

I can't imagine any gm if they had a choice to take a big 3 it wouldn't be ours.

They were proven in 07 and and before. Now it's us.

Its also not a fair comperison since looking at the Spurs big three, okay so they won a title together and they have been together for a while, also Cs big three was started in preseason as well as the time they had to gel during regular season. But as far as the Lakers, well if you consider our success with Pau jumping in the middle of the season and our injuries thru out the season we did fairly good ending up in the finals and then winning the next years finals. So techinically like you said most G.Ms would consider our big three over any team at this time.
We can also go as far as saying that we have the most dominating big three and a four (L.O) coming off the bench, so to me its not even a fair comperison.
All I can say is we'll be alright.

It's gonna be sweet watching our boys shut up all these idiots. We have a very deep and young team poised to repeat, I truly believe this team will be much better, some things that most don't consider is:

1) Brian Shaw being able to grow into a bigger role in the coaching staff now that Rambis is gone. Shaw has the respect of the players, most importantly Kobe's. Perhaps now the team will commit to defense more.

2) LO working out with Vitali. That shows that Lamar may be adding a new weapon to add to his already vast arsenal... toughness :o Should compliment the 2nd unit beautifully. Perhaps LO will be able to post-up the back PF/SF and help anchor the 2nd unit too.

And
3) Pau's injury is going to keep him off the National team so he will be fresh to go when the season begins.

4) Ammo ripping the summer league up.

5) Bynum is at the playboy mansion waiting for me to get their so we can make it rain some more.

6) Artest is getting ready for the Ironman contest meanwhile getting ready for the Arnold classic.

and above all

7) Sasha has been banned from all the *** bars in West Hollywood so hopefully he can practice on his game and maybe just maybe gets a haircut and stops plucking his eyebrows and tries to rebuilt the broken down ucked up machine. Maybe a tuneup or a quick lube can get the machine back into ops.

8) And Kobe is going crazy since he hasnt had a kill in a long time, so he will be even hungrier when he returns.

9) Phil is probably sitting in his same chair smoking a dobbie and reading a book about how to become a better coach.

10) Benga's in Africa hunting Lions and Tigers by his bare hands.

11) And Smush and Vlad are somewhere kicking themselves in the arse for being such losers.
