http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/1000 ... t-to-startSINGAPORE (AP) - Los Angeles Lakers reserve point guard Jordan Farmar wants be a starter, either with the Lakers or another NBA team.
"I want to run a team and be the lead guard," Farmar said Tuesday on the sidelines of a basketball clinic in Singapore. "Hopefully, it can be here (with the Lakers)."
"There's a lot of jobs out there. I feel I have a lot to offer."
Farmar said he wasn't surprised general manager Mitch Kupchak fielded trade offers from other teams during the offseason.
"I've talked to Mitch a bunch of times and he says he's got a ton of offers and didn't consider trading me," Farmar said. "It's just you have to entertain all the offers you get.
"Since I haven't got traded, it means they want me here."
Farmar, who grew up in Los Angeles and played two seasons at UCLA, said veteran point guard Derek Fisher will likely begin next season as the starter again.
"Derek's had a great run," he said. "He's probably going to be the guy starting off. I just want to continue to push him."
Farmar said it's difficult to find opportunities to shine in the Lakers' star-studded lineup, which includes 11-time All-Star Kobe Bryant.
"It's hard. He's the best," Farmar said when asked about playing with Bryant. "He demands a lot of attention. He demands the ball a lot of the time."
"It's tough for any young player to come into a really good team and try to find their niche."
sounds like someone has contract year on his mind.

and Nate Robinson wants to be a Knick.
you can't always have what you want
especially if he's pretty much calling Kobe a ballhog and that he wants Derek to stop starting ASAP.
him and Kobe always seem like they never got along....and his play isn't spectacular, like odes he think he's gonna be an All-Star or something?

I'd love to hear some of these supposed "lots" of trade offers Mitch is fielding for him. But we do need him at this point, we can't rely just on Fisher.

Yeah, thats one way of taking it.
Or maybe hes just motivating his fellow point guards on the team. Maybe its his way of telling Management that he is bringing it 110% next season and is gunning to get a starting position after DF steps down.
Maybe its just his way of motivating himself to push his game. Farmar doesn't have a record of stepping over lines or being douchy with the Lakers, as far as i can remember,. So i wouldn't jump the gun in calling him out on this statement.
Im ok with us letting him go to another squad, as long as Shan-Brown plays up to the promise he showed last season.

Contract year and he probably wants the starting job to up his value before the preseason to get a nice contract. This can be good for us because is Farmar works his ass off for us it doesn't mean we still have to keep him. Mitch better not fall for another playing do really well in their contract year and then signing him for a stupid contract.

Ahhhhhhhh Ya brah we can jump the gun, we have heard the samething in the past. Specially last season when he got bench over Shannon since Shannon actually played a couple of noches over Jordan. He is whinning like an ass and its traditional for Jordan to go out publicaly and complain about his starting job, but he has a sneaky way about it. Sort of like this one.

shannon clearly looked better than jordan last season.. so unless he plays on another level.. it'll be hard to start. Jordan has his spurts but he also has clumsy plays. Dfish will most likely start again this season but with less minutes so that he can be rested for the post season.
But i can't wait to see the PGs fight it out... it'll only make us better.

It will be interesting to see Farmar and Shannon fighting to see who comes off the bench for D-Fish.
I hope there skills on the court do the talking and not some nonsense through the media.
As a Laker fan, all you can ask is that there motivation makes them play balls to the wall through out the season.
I didn't know it was Farmars contract year. Interesting indeed.

I don't remember him going out and whinging about starting or anything really, what the F are you talkinga about?
And "His starting" job? He has never said it's his, keep it real dude, seriously. Nobody likes to wade through a bunch of made up BS on here.

I don't remember Farmar actually publicly complaining about his role but he did show disatisfaction with his playing time and position on the team. There were 'reports' that he and Phil were at odds...
I think he could start in the NBA... It's a big league... I think he's shown enough that he deserves to start somewhere...
I just don't think it's on the Lakers.
He says he wants to run the offense, but he's never shown an abillity to run the TRI... It's just not his style...
I'd like to keep his value high so I won't drag down his game in case someone's reading,

but I think he'd be best suited somewhere else...
Now if we could just package "la máquina defectuosa" with him...

Just based on his comments about Kobe and his refusal to pass to him previously, you can tell he's a whiny punk who needs to go. As I said previously: he's expiring, he won't be happy off the bench, he won't be good as a starter, he has an attitude problem, and we need to trade his ass.

Sasha sucks I don't think she will be coming off the bench for Kobe. Especially when she got kicked off her National team. Remember that Brown can play as a SG so Farmar and Brown might not even be fighting for the spot.

???
Is everyone honestly telling me if they were Jordan they
wouldn't want more minutes and an increased role?
It's abundantly obvious that Farmar's growth has been stagnated by his lack of responsibility on this team. IMO you reap what you sow. The Lakers have been busy trying to win now, thus they haven't utilized Jordan as he could have been. It's as much their problem as it is his. (That's not even going into how he's not an ideal triangle PG).
People need to chill when it comes to Jordan. He says he wants to start...what's the problem with that? If Shannon Brown came out with the same exact interview everyone would be saying OMGZ Shanny's playing for bloodz thiss $eason!!!

Face it. If anyone's hating on anyone, it's us.

Wow. I hadn't read this until now. All the sudden you become a member of a championship winning team and you demand more? Fisher's earned his spot in the starting five, and until farmer can impress Jackson enough to replace D-Fish as a starter then Farmer should let his game speak. Not his mouth.
