People have been saying Live is going to finally pass up 2k every single year, it never does.

Tekken, sure man, but pulling Mike Wang 2k's lead DEV to EA, looks to be a huge step. These early reviews of the demo are a lot stronger than 2k's draft combine impressions (looks like they stayed the course, with tighter graphics).

Live is for graphics, 2K is for gameplay.. Thats the way it is and will probably continue to be

2K has bad AI, that's a part regardless of the builds that LIVE put out that were inferior to 2k, that's one thing LIVE has always had in spades smart AI, that's a huge part of gameplay. 2k9's graphics were superior to LIVE "That Nicka" . I played countless games on 2k last year I'd stop the game and pull up instant replays constantly where I'd have a hand on the ball or in the face as he released the shot and it would be all net unaffected ,really frustrating, that doesn't happen in LIVE.

when it comes down to it its style vs. substance and i've been going with substance since 2k5. the last time i bought live was in 01 with kg on the cover.

I used to love EA when they claimed "it's in the game".

But the 2006 Live was rather weak and I started playing FIFA instead. A couple of yrs later I decided to give 2k a try and was surprised that their version of a hoops game was more of a sim game than Live.

I compared last year's version of both companies and found Live's players looking rather thin, with no proportion compared to real life counterparts. The gameplay was too left much to be desired.

Live is boasting about new "hustle" plays this year. 2k has it already so it's evident Live is in catch up mode. Throw in Kobe as the cover athlete for 2k and no way I'm switching back this year.

if 2k improves online lobbies, it looks to be the best hoops game EVER.

I play in 2k9 leagues, they are all like you guys fanboys of the 2k series, they know that the AI stinks in 2k, but they agree with your guys that even with this LIVE demo 2k is the winner.

the fanboy stuff needs to be saved for kids who don't have a choice and get whatever their parents buy them and have to convince themselves they have the better game.

Live sucks and always will, the AI on 2k is unmatched. Most people buy games based on graphics, I buy based on game reality. On live they have every single guy ripped and in shape. We all know that's a lie.

Can you explain this AI issue you have with 2K? I see the occasional misstep here or there, but I think it performs adequately for the most time (definitely not terrible).

I have always been willing to give each series a chance but have been giving the baton to the 2K series for the new concepts they bring to the table. With 2K9, they gave us 5 v 5 online basketball which I find incredibly fun and challenging.

Deciding which is better at this point isn't the best way to argue for or against. Instead, rate each option, LIVE 2010 or 2K10, once the full game is out. At this point they're only demos and have some room for changes or surprises :D

I like the look of Live better than 2K. Live had a great look especially in practice, music, All star stuff, etc. But I didn't enjoy the game play.

I'm stuck with 2K even though I had both.

I loved LIVE from 2005-2006 for the PC, I didn't get a PS3 until a few years ago. I've played the PS2 versions of that game and they stunk during that period, I think most of the gamers that played LIVE in those years had the PS2 version and that's why they say it sucked. I guess LIVE 2004 PC was brilliant as well, never played it.

PC Live 2005-2006 that was my first experience with online play and I was hooked immediatley, you mean I can go online and match up with Dexmor's Bobcats and dominate him with my Lakers? WOW. Strong leagues, chat rooms for game matches and trades, drafts, it was awesome. Then 2k came in strong in 2006 and took over the bball market and have been the champ ever since.

AI: I bought 2k9 this year it's a very good game, but the AI isn't guys. You can force shots with Kobe, Lebron 24/7 inside and the defense matters little hands up double and triple teamed and the ball still goes in when you force it inside, Dirk's can rain from 5 feet beyond the three line all net. Like I said earlier certain moments of the game I'd play perfect D at times hands in face, perfectly time block attempt on a jumper hand in face or nearly on ball all net. I'd stop the game and do a quick instant replay to see for myself, frustrating. In league play you have to run plays all the time and the shot off the play animation would take over when the D was right on top of you all net. Live's AI, although an inferior game to 2k has always had the AI down pat. This isn't just me talking, this is league play 2K guys that say that, they feel like you guys about the game they love it , but agree the AI isn't very smart.

2K loyalty truly is incredible, it's more like a religion or a cult, how much further are we from human sacrifice ;). I'm going off a video and early impressions and more buzz than I can remember about LIVE, I will play the game myself next week when the demo comes out 9/17. I'll be comapring it to the draft combine, which won't be a true comparison, but all we have for now.
