Monday Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant was in Houston for a two-hour workout with Olajuwon.

Olajuwon said Bryant reached out to him for help with his moves in the post.

"He gave me the biggest compliment," Olajuwon said. "(He said) You are the best (at the) mid-post and post move.

"He wanted me to show my moves to him."

Olajuwon said his style of play in the paint is really suited for a guy like Bryant.

"In my mind most of my moves for a guy (with) that agility can use it better than the big guy," Olajuwon said. "Because my moves are not really for the big guy.

"It's for the guards and small forwards. So he would benefit most on the post because of his agility.

"It was so much fun because how he picks it up. I worked with him for two hours, step by step."

Olajuwon expects Bryant to be even better than he was last season when he led the Lakers to the NBA Championship.

"Adding those moves to his game, watch out for him this year," Olajuwon said. "I understand his dedication. His desire to win and stay on top.

"That's what I respect most about him."

By the way, Olajuwon said he would never have held one-on-one sessions like this if he was still playing.

"You don't want to give them your secrets," Olajuwon said.

Oh my, Kobe is going into the season with an even better post-game?? I already feel he has the best post game of any guard/wing in the league. I think this is an indication that Kobe wants to work closer to the basket and we may see an increase in his raw FG%. Could we possibly see a 50% FG season from Kobe this year?

Anyway, I LOVE reading about stuff like this on Kobe. Just shows he has the greatest work ethic in the league. Also love to see that even though he is an established legend of his own and a grizzled veteran in the league, he still is willing to put his ego aside to learn from previous masters of the game as he is constantly striving to become a better, more complete player.

Wow!! Kobe's footwork is already sick, and now he goes and does this, training with the Dream. I wonder if Phil is thinking about moving him to SF.

It amazes me just how dedicated Kobe is to the game. I'd probably be in night clubs everyday **** hot girls and party as soon as I get that big contract. This is why Kobe is Kobe and I'm just an average joe, I guess.

dcash, wow man bravo, how exciting.

I was pulling for the Rockets those years once the LAL were out of it, just a dynamic team.

One of the best lines ever came out of that HOU run..., Rudy T, "Never underestimate the heart of a Champion!"

Bob Horry was a young uber athlete.

And Olajawan, for my life had the biggest superstar v superstar pawning matchup ever, schooling the Admiral shockingly.

Damn this is why I love you Kobe! :) I like the fact he knows by playing more in the post he will improve his efficiency and save himself some mileage on those legs

Great find dcash, could be one of the most lethal post teams with Kobe, Pau, Drew, Lamar, and Ron all able to post up. But I thought Hakeem was an assistant coach for another team?

from the Dream Shake to the Kobe Shake. I've been itching for the season to start. With everyone healthy, Kobes with new moves, Artest getting stronger, Bynum healthy, Pau as Pau, Odom getting married, who can stop us?

It's amazing how nothing surprizes LAKER fans about the work ethic of this guy..It has to make his team want another chip knowing the best player in the world is not content with the 4 titles he's already won. This news plus a haircut is sure to make Sasha the player we all hoped he was

Shame on me. For some reason i've had in mind that it was Riley who said that.
I really think Kobe is gearing up to be a top scorer. I think we are going to see ridiculous scoring this season from Kobe.

I disagree. There simply aren't enough shots to go around between our important players.Last year he saw a decrease with 26.8 ppg ,this year i think both his scoring and minutes will drop furthemore which don't get me wrong,is a very good thing. The objective is the title, not scoring and I know Phil will make sure he rests enough in the blowouts which IMO will be plenty. One category in which I expect he will rise is the assissts departement....24/25 ppg and 6 ast with 34 mpg it's very ,very good
Come playoff time ,those minutes of rest will pay off big time

Yeah we dont need kobe to drop 30+ppg in the reg season anymore we save that for the playoffs lol
