Cuban happy Lakers got Artest

Post#1 » by itsvic » Sat Oct 3, 2009 7:19 am

What up fam. Apparently Mark Cuban is glad that LA got Artest. Here is a quote from the audio:

"I tell you what, now that they've got Ron Artest, I couldn't think of anything better. IIf you would have said, what one player -- and I'll get killed over this -- what one player would you like to see on the Lakers? Ron Artest."

"Could you imagine? Ron Artest has got the ball, and Kobe's standing there, 'Throw me the ball.' Thank you, Ron Artest."

I think this will motivate the guy when he is facing the Mavs. The first game against Dallas can get nasty! I can't wait. What do you guys think?

Why would he be happy about it? Mavs aren't contending for a title.

Tomorrow we can drive around this town
And let the cops chase us around
The past is gone, but something might be found
To take its place...

He knows the Mavs can't beat the Lakers even though they are rebuilt, so he hoping and praying that Ron based on his past disrupts the Lakers. This is all everybody is going to say all year, but Ron says he's hungry and it'll be up to Ron to prove them wrong.

Every team and every fan base and every player talks about how this is their year and we feel good and we are the team to beat, but when it comes to LA everybody is only talking about how bad R-test is and the negativity that R-Test is going to draw to this team.

All I have to say is, I hope this is fueling Ron and our team into proving everyone wrong. I hope and I KNOW R-TEST is going to do welll and he wants to be a part of this team.
Skipem all. We need to prove all this ahole wrong and we will by win another title.

Cuban's not going to be so happy when Ron Artest is getting in Dirk's grill and shutting him down.

I don't think he ever shut down Dirk, not even in his prime days, check out their h2h stats. Anyway, yes, you have a better team, and Cuban knows it, but he won't say it in public. I didn't watch the video, but i can't really see our roster giving more matchup problems to the Lakers, than the Lakers to us, unfortunately. As far as Artest goes, only Lakers fans assume that he will fit in perfectly, while in reality that's anything but a given. If he fits in, plays hard defense, and more importantly, doesn't wanna be the number two scorer, you're team will be pretty much unbeatable. But you can't blame other fans thinking about that other possibility, being worse with Artest. If not else, from a "wishful thinking" standpoint.

Artest being mad and trying to ball hog the game is exactly what Mark Cuban wants.

You have a few good points, but how can someone like Mark, and believe me I have met him, had drinks and gambled with him in Vegas well over 4 hours and I actually got to know the guy and he is a nice guy, a very nice guy. But how can someone that has drawn so much negative attention to himself and at times has cost his team a lot of games for running his mouth sit there and talk about Ron and the negativity that he might bring to our team. Its like he's talking ish when his own ish stink.

Artest being mad does not necessarily mean he will ball hog. Kobe WON"T let it happen. He has always been known for his DEFENSE not his chucking. He shot the ball often in Houston due to injuries on his team.

Artest never had to shut Dirk down... Dirk is the number one Dirk-Stopper in the league...

What Cuban's really saying is "****! The Laker's did it again! I'm even more irrelivant now!"

Cuban basically said:

Internal chaos is the ONLY chance the MAVS have against the Lakers.

I wonder if the Mavs players / media is smart enough to put this together.
Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!

Cuban is jealous of the LAL success, and wants headlines for his team, but he's partially right.

I'm ecstatic we have this new challenge with Artest. I'm really excited to see the LAL not being able to rest on their laurels, and have to work with a new challenge. The challenge is taking a great player like Artest that has made a great career off of ball heavy iso's to the basket, and working him into this beatifully moving triangle they are working to master. My guess is when the starters are in he's Trevor Ariza and nothing is called for him initially, and then eventually they will call a few playes for him to use his iso skill and getting to the rack but within closer proximity to the basket and quicker strikes. Or at times he can rack up points vs. second teams letting some starters rest. Really pumped for Run Run.
