Team Meeting!

Post#1 » by Dalakerbox » Mon Oct 12, 2009 6:07 pm

I love these guys dedication. I mean this was a pre-season game and they were so disappointed in their performance they had a little talk about it. This just goes to show you LA's belly's are not full and they are hungry as hell for a repeat. I love it, I can't lie I was upset to see the team loose but this more than makes up for it. We are focused man, good luck taking the championship from this bunch!

"Displeased by their play in Friday’s exhibition loss to the Golden State Warriors, the Lakers players held a meeting among themselves to remind themselves they can do better. Coach Phil Jackson said he was glad to see the players policing themselves, even after only two games into the exhibition schedule.

“They felt like they didn’t give the right kind of effort,” Jackson said this afternoon. “It wasn’t a bad effort, but nothing went right for them. It was just a little opportunity for them to talk about the right kind of energy.”
“If this is his team, that means no more coming into camp fat/out of shape, no more blaming others for our team’s failure, my team doesn’t mean only when we win it means carrying the burden of defeat just as gracefully as you carry a championship trophy.”

Were doing everything complete opposite of other teams. Read every board every article you see the same ish when it comes to other teams. All they say is "This is our year" "CS can surpass the 95-96 bulls record" Bllllllahhhhhhhh bllllllllllahhhhhhh blahhhhhhhh. Talking ISH and then when they choke they blame everybody but themselves.

They call us Fakers, meanwhile we keep our mouths shut and take a preseason loss to G.S to the heart. Thats what I love about this team its staff and its players. Its like PUT UP or SHUT UP.

Pump yourself up all you want but its onething to fill your own head up with garbage that only you believe and its another to actually come out and achieve what you claim.

We proved that last year, no talks, no B.S. We kept our mouth shut and came out ballin and proved everyone wrong.

Im glad they had this meeting, they need to take every game seriously preseason or not. Deal with it, sort out your mistakes and lets regroup and come out ballin. Everything will fall in its place.

Love this. Credit to the leaders on this team for taking this title defense serious from the get go. Last week Drew was saying how the camp feels like a veteran camp (everyone came back in-shape and ready to go) and now this!

This team is ready to go, they have the chemistry and more importantly they hold high expectations of themselves.
Thank you, Phil.

Btw the effort Friday night was horrendous. It was so bad I felt they did the Forum wrong. Coming back to the old stomping grounds...and get worked by the Warriors. We're better than that
Thank you, Phil.

I understand where your coming from but it was just pre-season, so I can cut them a little slack, but just a little

When I read about the team meeting it triped me out. First thing I thought was that the rest of the league is in trouble if they are taking preseason games to this level. I like it, it sets the tone for the rest of the season.

Well if anybody was at Friday's game like I was and if you know ball it was clear to see the Lakers didn't get in rhythm. That said they never made an effort to capture some sort of momentum, they just went on and let the Warriors dictate the flow. Overall I'm not going to get exasperated over a preseason run.

As far as the meeting it's good they can take a look in the mirror and check themselves.

I like it, it was probably all to easy to take them lightly after game one, but we have a long history of being bitten by the leagues worst teams, so maybe this year we'll focus on the doormats better and really be the team that breaks the regular season record.

although it was only a pre season game.. they shouldn't be owned like that especially back to the Forum. the money spent to move the equipment over.. the excite fans... it wasnt right to lose even though phil was still testing the waters for most of the guys...
They should have played with more effort. But having that team meeting proved they just didn't lose because they were being lazy.. They had a mindset to win but couldn't produce. I think the fans understand since it's preseason and players are getting to know their roles on the court...

im goin more tactical than emotional. sure, many will say lack of effort. no emotion. zero output. etc.. but im gonna say that this should be looked at a little differently. with ariza we have length. recall orlando, they swing-swing-swing-shoot. shoot. and shoot. well we had dwight checked on the inside, but we also had arizas length chasin down shooters. not only orlando, all throughout the playoffs.

with artest though, we have something else. a strength on the interior. we are strong on the inside with artest who will be an enforcer at the basket, alongside our other bigs of course.

but with that said, we will lose the length on the perimeter.

anyhow, this is something to watch in upcoming matchups with shooting teams like the warriors.
