Jordan Farmar
I heard on the broadcast last night the announcer say the Lakers will not extend Farmars contract, and that he will become a restricted free agent at end of the year. I think we should just trade him, it's obvious they don't like him much. But I was surprised to hear that even before the season starts the Lakers are already saying they won't extend or give an offer.

Re: Jordan Farmar
What did he expect?
He has been running his mouth off for a while and hasnt been producing. Its about time he gets what he deserves. Most people usually get what they have coming to them and Farmar is one of those guys. Im extremely happy about our F.O for not signing him. Skip him.

If this whole 2-guard thing that PJ has been doing during the pre-season works throughout the season, maybe the front desk will start thinking bout resigning.
Unless we have better options.

Re: Jordan Farmar
I think that it's a great psyche move. He seems to be responding well to it. If he looks really good, then it would probably be wise to trade him when his stock is nice and high and people are shopping for the deadline. By then he can either prove he should be a laker with the right attitude, or we can turn him into a more appropriate type of PG with his potential and expiring. Perhaps we can even bundle someone else we don't need (Ammo/Sasha) and find someone to take over the starting PG spot.
Tanking teams looking to get young may be all about Jordan and want to get rid of an established bigger contract guy.
Maybe the right twist could lead the Nets toward that path and we could get Harris... I can see it clearly with my homer colored binoculars.

Re: Jordan Farmar
If we dont end up trading for a legit PG, I think we will have to sign Farmar to an extension at the end of the year... Fisher is already barely starting quality, I love Shannon Brown but he's not full time starter quality... I think starting next year Fish will begin to be phased out like like Harper during the 3 peat years (started the first year, reduced role 2nd year and then retired)...
Next year we can either start Farmar and have Brown come off the bench or the other way around, but Fish should probably be our 3rd PG... Since none of the 3 are great our only strength will be the depth of having 3 'decent' PGs

Re: Jordan Farmar
Sorry guys, but I actually like Farmar and believe he will have a much better season this year. The only way I get rid of him is for an upgrade at the point, such as "Kirk Hinrick" but dat ain't happening so I say keep him. The dude can ball, he had a bad year last year, but just before the season started he was injured so I for one forgive him for his sloppy play, and will only start to knock him if this sloppiness continues this season. What you have to realize is most point guards are groomed, they stick with one team for awhile and they become the team leaders in the future, maybe he and Brown can be our point guards of the future maybe not, but damn give him a chance. I remember coming on here a year ago defending Odom the same way when everyone wanting him gone, he picked up his play and had the chance to walk...this kept you and me both on the edge of our seats most of the Summer, how much you wanna bet this is what will happen with Jordan next Summer? especially with an aging Kobe and a declining D.fish. Say what you want but this guy has the ability to change the pace of the game and when we go uptempo we're more dangerous than the run and gun Suns, and it's even harder to beats us. Ease up on the kid, and also the only reason this comes out before the season is because the front office is smart, now Jordan has something to prove and play for and will go balls out to keep his spot on our roster. He's an RFA next season so even if someone offers a deal, which most likely will not exceed the MLE range, we can match it unless someone like a disgruntled 2010 org like the Knicks or Miami throw crazy money at him.

Re: Jordan Farmar
It's no secret that Farmar has struggled, just ask him.
He has the tools, but he needs to prove he can get it done. Signing him now would be foolish and his trade value is pretty low.

i don't think u are understanding it right. they said they aren't going to extend him RIGHT NOW, as in before the season starts. what they do next offseason is anyone's guess. sounds like u think they're saying they aren't even going to extend him next yr.

That's a little redicoulus to mention Harris in a Farmar deal. They would have to include Gasol to get Harris.

Gasol is much more valuable to us than Harris.

If they agreed with you, they would have re-signed him by now, as is, they don't think much of him, they are going to let him become a free agent. So they actually agree with the Farmar needs to go crowd.

Typically, if you like a player, you extend his rookied contract (in this case) Cuz you want them around, since they are not extending it, but have actually said they are going to let him become a free agent, says alot to me anyway. They'll see what other teams offer, and if he get's a deal beyond 3 mill a year or so, I predict they let him walk.
