Who should start? Shannon, Fish, or Farmar

The Champs are here..................

The seasons about to begin and the biggest question mark is at the point guard position. Do you start Derek Fisher, which has been a Laker legend, who is a clutch, tough strong , his leadership on the floor but at the sametime he is an aging veteran.

Do you go with Jordan Farmar which happens to be a true point guard that we spend a first round draft pick to obtain him. He seems to be able to run the floor and he can basically can do everything but I dont consider him a team player and he has been inconsistant when it really counts AT TIME.

And then there is Shannon I GOT HOPS Brown. We all know that he's not a true point guard but we all know Phil loves bigger P.Gs since his "Triangle" offense can actually run without a true P.G. Brown is sick, he has heart, he plays good on both ends of the floor, he is very athletic with a 45 inch vert, and he has been very impressive in the preseason. He's also a crowd pleaser on the court something about him when he subs in, it seems he fires up the crowd, and I think he shoots the 3 well, he loves attacking the basket more than Fish and Farmar.

I like to start Shannon first and then bring in Fish next and then Farmar. I would allow Shannon to start and Fish to finish specially in crunch time.

Shannon will have his time but fisher will remain the starter. The one thing everyone loves about fish is his leadership and thats his main role on this team. What we saw in preseason was great with fisher starting and brown and farmar subbing in. Thats how its gonna be this season at least and we should be thankful we have 3 pretty solid point guards that can be out and play with the lineups we have.

Shannon brown is great but nows fishers time and maybe after this season things will change but brown understands that and he gets good enough minutes anyways so its not an issue. from preseason it seems like farmar has improved and got a little quicker but who knows what the season may bring.
As long as machine gets his shot back sometime soon idc who runs the point

Here's my breakdown:

Fish- Understands the offensive in and out, not too turnover prone, stretches the floor better than his two counter parts. Will perform better in the clutch.

Farmar- Has been reluctant to run the offense in the past, exhibits bad floor presence with teammates that he feels are below his level, not consistent from deep, poor freethrow shooter. That alone is why he can't play when it counts.

Brown- Just doesn't have all of the offense down yet, insufficient ball handling skills would lead to turnovers, he is bigger and stronger than Farmar and Fish but not as experienced in the offense as those two.

Verdict: Fish

Fisher would be the best option to start but Phil is going to have to keep his minutes down to keep him effective. Farmer might have a better than expected year and Brown will be serviceable. LA should be good at point most nights. Its just when they play those quick pg's where they will have trouble.

I'm more on the "none of the above" wagon. We're not all that good at PG, and we were getting beat up consistently at that spot last year. I love Shannon off the bench, but we don't really have a quality starting PG on our roster right now.

Hopefully we''ll address the PG situation in free agency next summer, or either of Shannon or Jordan has to really develop.

Farmar and Ammo for a better pg before the trade deadline. that is my story and Im sticking to it.

I'm so sick and tired of this overrated comment. We've handled all of the suppose teams with quick guards. Our record against those teams is more than decent, that's including your Spurs!

And on the same token, if the Lakers have trouble with quick guards then the rest of the opponents have trouble with our front line.

Hey don't take it personal. You guys are weak at PG big deal. Like you said you look strong at all the other positions. I am just saying Fish has some miles, Farmer is a career back up and Brown is servicable at best. The question is who should start? and my answer is fish but you have to keep his minutes down I am not trying to get you all riled up just posting the obvious.

I didn't take it personal, my response seems maybe a little rigid. Anyway you're kinda right in your assessment. I believe Farmar can be a starter, he has the ability. So I will disagree he's a career back up, I've seen the kid since his high school days. He can play he just has to have that light come on upstairs first.

I don't think we will get anything for those two.

With two healthy 7 footers, having a "defensive" weak point at the point position is not too bad.

I still think there are virtually little to no players out there that can stay in front of quick guards without hand checking.

I don't think there is anything overrated by that statement. Last couple of years we've had two defensive weaknesses, quickness at the PG position and strength at the SF position. We've addressed our weakness at the SF position with Artest now, but we still have problems at the PG position.

Us having a great front line, and great wings does not change the fact that we're horrible at PG. I think we have good backups for the PG position, but we lack a quality starter. At some point, that will have to be addressed, hopefully at the trade deadline with our expirings or next summer with our MLE if Buss is willing to spend it.

Thanks brah.

As far as the topic at hand, I dont think we are weak in that position. I think we're some what okay as far as our options between these three players I mentioned. Its just a matter of who can match up with what player on a givin night. I think by having a vet player like Fish we have both clutch and leadership. With Farmar he wants and needs a contract and he needs to prove himself and I think this is the year he will, hopefully well enough to help us to another title. As far as Shannon his height, speed and aggressiveness on both end of the court is a plus.
I think we do have a problem at the P.G position but were not really weak, we have seen it time and time again that all three of these guys have stepped up when called upon and hopefully this offseason has done them a lot of good to improve their games.
Lets wait and see.

Put it this way. If the all play up to their potential, that could be a great 3 headed monster.

Duct tape them all together and put them on the floor at once. That would be a nasty azz PG.

I honestly have no preference, whoever plays the best out of the 3 should start.

what i see is fish starting. but as the season goes on, he eases out of the starting role and then the young guys take over. farmar knows this offense now like the back of his hand, and shannon is excellent as well.

fish will show flashes, but in the end, it will be time for the young guys to take charge of the point position and earn the right to be that guy. the guy that in the finals or any other playoff games that when counted upon and called on . . . will make those "fisher" type plays.

I know I'll probably get flamed, but I'd rather see Sasha start at point. I feel like he's the best shooter out of Fisher, Farmar, and Brown. We don't really need a playmaker (Farmar), we got plenty of those guys, just need a sharp shooter.
