I thought Pau was still out of action for Sunday.
Anyways Hawks are the kind of team that gives us problems. Athletic, they run up and down the court well and have shooters that can make you pay for leaving open. This is also a team we struggled to beat on the road on previous occasions so should be interesting to see how the players get back.

I REALLY REALLY hope gasol sits out and see if the boys respond...i'm still disappointed with their lack of effort against the Mavs..better come out focused and ready to play

We need to cut down the sloppy play from last night and the Clipper game. We never got in rhythm last night. Hawks have a lot of young guys who like to get up and down. It'll be interesting to see how we respond.

Nice GT cash. Hopefully Pau doesn't play & we bounce back with a win against a quality opponent. We need to start playing the triangle & not the straight line. Inside out is how we win.

Agree with the hopefully Pau doesnt play, and I agree with the inside out. But Bynums not ready yet. Once Bynums learns how to survey the floor better, it inside/outside game will be great. Thats what makes Gasol so special, He surveys the floor and makes the right decisions. I want Bynum to fight for better position, get the pass, survey the floor, make a decision, if nothing is there, pass it out, re-post hard, get the ball back, take it up strong.

Ditto. Dont want his absence being used as a crutch/excuse....let the Lakers figure it out, they have the talent to do it.

Agreed. They have to trust him though. It's early in the season so this is where you work on this. When we don't go inside out Kobe starts his Jordan w/o Pippen act then the rest of the guys start their if Kobe can do it, I can do it act. Until Pau gets back they have to trust Drew & get on him for being the "Black Hole" when nothing's there. Last night I saw where he took a really tough shot & Artest was wide open on the perimeter & Drew saw him but thought he could make the closer shot. Right away I said Drew you have to kick that one back out! That's the only way he's going to learn.

last year, this would have been a sure shot win, but with the focus of this team early in the season i cant see an easy task on hand.
they need to put their heads into the game as a single unit, and not have guys like drew trying to do his own thing on the offensive end while half-assing it defensively.
ron artest is getting some pretty significant minutes. he has got to turn it up defensively, and this is probably one of the only times ill say it this season, but RON NEEDS TO ATTACK ON OFFENSE. ATTACK! i feel as if he may be too passive, trying to get on the teams good side still, but F that. dude's a low post factor, and no way will their small forwards be able to handle him...also he needs to find his 3 point niche.
get it done defensively, the offense will come.(except ron artest, boy u better show somethin)

This game is going to be a struggle also, even if Pau comes back everything isn't going to heal up just because he comes back. Like I said he's not the savior, it's a mountain of things wrong with this team.
Last season we were the number 1 rebounding team (offensively & total overall) in the league. Now we're sitting at 12th place and getting out boarded by 5 a game by opponents. Take blocks per game, last season we were in the top 5........this year sitting at a pitiful 28th place with a whooping 2.50 blocks a game.
Bottom line in every statistical defensive category the Lakers were near the top. Now even after 2 games they rank near the bottom................they better lose this "looking to get mine" attitude real quick and start running the offense and playing some defense.
And if you noticed the numbers I put has EVERYTHING to do with the bigs on our team, like I said last night Gasol being out shouldn't throw a wrench in the program that badly.

Deep I thik you're missing 1 thing. Pau usually rebounds well. LO is up & donw we all know that. That pretty much leaves Drew & the bench. Drew right now is averaging a double double & 11.5 RPG. I'd say that's getting it done especially sitting out the entire 4th or it would probably be higher. So we need our other consistant double double guy back in Pau.

I equate this to the famous quote Shaq said after winning the title in 2002,"I got hurt on company time and I'm gonna heal on company time". Yeah it's kinda of a different scenario but this start will lie squarely at Pau's feet. The European Championships didn't even have any Olympic consequences to them. All dude had to do is say," Hey guys I'm chillin out in LA this summer, call me when we start training for the World Championships".
I find it sad everybody here is crying for Pau to save the team................he's not the savior people, yes he's important but he's just part of the piece that makes it work. But this team should be able to function without Pau period, at least in the short term now long term is a much different story.
Maybe it's me but this season has 2003 written all over it.

It's only one loss and early in the season. Paul is a huge factor for LA and should not be underestimated. I say let the guy sit as long as he needs to. Also gives Bynum a chance to really step up. The lakers didn't look all that great in the clippers game and the mav game was just a poor outting but even without Paul LA should take care of Atl fairly easy tmw.

Gasol to sit vs. Atlanta
October 31, 2009 | 7:13 pm
It seemed like a longshot anyway, but Phil Jackson confirmed Saturday at practice that Pau Gasol won't play tomorrow against Atlanta at Staples, thanks to his strained right hamstring that again kept him on the sidelines this afternoon as it has since an exhibition game on October 9. As I wrote the other day, the Lakers are going to be exceedingly careful with Pau, and aren't likely to let him suit up for a game until he's practiced in full- at least once- and come back the next day without complications.
The following shouldn't be used for gambling purposes as it's purely speculative, but I wouldn't expect to see Gasol Tuesday in Oklahoma City, nor, considering the lack of a full practice day in between, Wednesday in Houston. Hopefully I'm wrong (wouldn't be the first time) but my read says Friday at home against Memphis is the next target for Gasol's return.
