Pau Gasol had an MRI today to test his hamstring. Results pending. Phil Jackson said he was optimistic about the test.

Lakers forward Pau Gasol has missed the first three games of the season with a hamstring injury.

However, his return may be near as he will accompany the team on a two-game road trip to Oklahoma City and Houston.

Lakers coach Phil Jackson told the Los Angeles Times that Gasol is "close enough" to travel with the team. He added that it typically takes six weeks to recover from the type of injury that the forward is suffering from.

"We don't have six weeks," Jackson said. "There are ways to come through this without having to jeopardize him."

Meh, just get him back by Christmas and Im good. Why does it seem like Phil is presurring Gasol to come back?

Because Phil knows this is the part of the schedule where the team can get some actual separation from the so called teams that can dethrone the Lakers. This will have the rest of them scrambling the rest of the way and breaking their necks doing it. They'd be next to worn down and beat up by playoff time.

Yeah but dont bring the dude back if he's not ready. I'd rather make the playoffs as a 4-5 seed going in healthy than being a 1-2 seed with gasol playing one one leg.

Truthfully I don't think he's going to play on this trip. I think Phil made him go to get practice time. As far as seedings, we need to be a 1 seed........overall to win this thing again.

We would be the most dangerous 4 or 5 seed since Hakeem's Rockets!

Lakers spokesman John Black confirmed that Kobe Bryant has a fever and a sore throat, and is listed as “questionable” for tonight’s game against Oklahoma City.

jeesh.... great... well will we get a Jordanesque performance and see Kobe lay down 50? I actually hope we see Ron shoot well and score some points tonight to compliment a dominant Drew showing.

I wonder if the NBA will prohibit him from playing in case it is H1N1 because, if Kobe isn't dead he will want to play.

unless there is a blood test to prove it, no way in hell. That would be crazy tampering and I imagine Bus could actually sue for that type of thing.

Oh and Snaq.... we have a winna!
