Will the Lakers Take Shaq Back in 2010?

Hey guys,
As you can tell by my username, I am a big fan of Shaq and I wanted to get your opinions about an article I read awhile ago in which Adrian Wojnarowski reported that several people around the NBA believe Shaq is privately hoping the Lakers take him back in 2010.
1) Do you think the Lakers (Kobe especially) will accept him back if he agrees to sign for a reasonable price?
Or do you think there's no way they will take him back after the way he badmouthed Kupchack, Buss, and Kobe after he was traded to the Heat?
Personally, as much as I like him, I think he's done. He's looked HORRIBLE this year.
What do you guys think?

Well, a major weakness for the Lakers is their bench. When Gasol returns, Odom is their only reliable guy off the bench.
Shaq would be a great guy to bring off the bench or Bynum would be a great guy to bring off the bench if Shaq is given a starting job.
I don't see any downside to this.

Nope...and I hope we don't retire his jersey until after Kobes, just to screw with him for talking sh*t on everyone in the organization.

I wouldn't mind him back if he mended his relationship with Dr Buss, and accepted a backup role at a decent price. He'd be the best backup center in the league, which would help our team.
We have bigger problems at PG tho, so if the choice was between Shaq and a starting type PG, I'd rather we get the PG.

i can see it happening for the vet min and only on the condition he shuts the f*ck up, which just might be impossible and a deal breaker
other than the inevitable puff pieces that will be written, the only real benefit will be spelling bynum in games against slow centers with little range and not having gasol bang there for those ~10 minutes instead...

Take him back for his past with us. Not because we need him. But on Cleveland, he looks really tired.

For 15-20 minutes a game, Shaq still might be the best center in the league...
And he's certainly better than Powel and Mbenga for the minutes those guys get...
So yeah, at the right price and as a back-up, I'd bring Shaq back. And hopefully, he'd only get minutes when he felt motivated.
I think it has about as much chance happening as we have of landing LeBron in '10... But hey, anything's possible.
We need an elite PG first though... Or at least one that looks elite when he plays with Kobe, Bynum, Gasol, Odom, and Artest...
Hmmm... When it's written like that, you wonder how bad Fish and Farmar really are?

I wouldn't mind getting Shaq back. But I suspect Dr. Buss and Kobe might think otherwise.

He'd probably have to take the vets min and have a serious "make up" session with Dr. Buss, in addition to accepting that he'll be getting about 10-15 minutes as a reserve (unless Bynum is out -- which he usually is). Shaq isn't much of a threat to Kobe at this point so I don't know why he'd object, outside of him just wanting to end up with more titles than Shaq, which seems petty in the grand scheme of things.
I don't think it'll happen though, and to be quite honest, I don't think Shaq deserves another chance with us. If we had an actual need for him then I'd have no problem with it, but as someone mentioned earlier I'd rather us try to secure something resembling a PG, or a guard in general.

I would have to say yes to Shaq. He would need to make ammends with Jerry Buss and am sure he will before the end of this season, saying the Jerry Buss is the best owner blah, blah, blah. He can come off the bench and ride the coattails of Kobe for another ring.
Scratch that. I changed my mind and have to say no as well.

No. As Bynum matures, it gets harder and harder to split the minutes between Odom/Gasol/Bynum. Bynum would command at least 30+ min, Gasol will get 30 + min and so will Odom. Simply not enough minutes to go around for Shaq
