the lakers just cant guard any point guard in the league

i luv d fish but he just needs to be a bench player now who maybe plays in the clutch moments

We don't have the money, collateral, or bargaining pieces to bring a PG in right now.

Maybe we can dump Morrison's contract for a pick. Then next year, I know Sasha's expiring, and maybe even Luke's to wash and repeat. But getting rid of those guys for picks is most likely our best chance.

Good PG's don't really get shipped to title contenders very often. (Legit contenders, not on paper contenders)

Suddenly playing the Bucks will be moderately interesting...I don't think Fish has a chance of staying in front of Brandon Jennings the way he's going right now.

We put the word out there that the Lakers are prepared to offer a slew of 2nd round picks and expiring contracts for a pg. This might be interesting for teams before the biggest FA market in history.

Normally 30 to 50 players may be available and just a few stars. In 2010 there will be 225 players available and a lot of stars. Teams might go bananas for expiring contracts this year.

If it works great, if not let them expire and use the mid level on a pg.

The answer to your question answers this question as well: do we want to repeat this year or wait for another gift to fall in our laps (Gasol trade)?

Ammo and Farmar gone. Brown moves over to back up PG. Brown would love more minutes at the point and a 2 man point guard rotation would probably even make Brown a better playing knowing that he will get his minutes. Then we get ourselves someone who is more capable of backing up Kobe or Ron better than Sasha and Luke are.

We don't need a pg. We need a guy who can guard pg's, hit open shots and maybe penetrate.

Wolves wouldn't do that, Sasha cuts into their 2010 cap space, so does Sessions, but Sessions actually knows how to play basketball.

I know Sessions can't really shoot, but I don't think that's any reason to rule him out. A few weeks back Rambis said that Sessions was doing a great job at running the triangle. I think he would be a good fit here.

And yea, the point guard situation needs to be addrssed, either make a trade and bring in a point guard or start Shannon Brown. Fish has had a great run, but we aren't winning a title with him as our starting point guard.

I'm all for more min for Brown at the PG. He can't do any worse than the other 3.

No way thats true he is still clutch and plays good d. Lakers won all there 4 titles this era with fisher starting. Shannon brown looks like he is the future point guard and might start next year. give fish one more year.

Fisher can handle guys like Chauncey Billups and Andre Miller But guys like Tony Parker, Jameer Nelson, and Rajon Rondo are going to torch us. Fisher doesn't play good D, not when there are so many players at the point guard position that he's unable to defend.

I don't see the Lakers defending as champs unless the Cavs make the finals (Unlikely) or Shannon Brown becomes the new Ariza and takes the starting job at some point during the season.

Quincy Douby for a prorated minimum of $800,000 would be exactly what you are looking for.

Personally, I wanted him over Farmar when they were drafted but Sac got to him first.

He can shoot lights out and play fantastic defense. He can't run an offense.

Would the Lakers trade Farmar/Morrison for Calderon?

Calderon plays some of the worst defense I've ever seen.

Good news though, Hinrich is playing crappy and the bulls want 2010 cap space, hopefully the Bulls make him available at some point and the Lakers management are willing to add that salary.

I don't think it's the future salary for the Lakers that's a question with Hinrich it's this year. Even if the Bulls even out the difference between Farmar+Morrison and Hinrich it doesn't necessarily work since we still have to pay 1.8m more in luxury tax. Stupid Sasha....

Calderon's defense is worse than Fisher's though if I'm not mistaken. What a downturn that guy has had in his career. The Suns should trade for him since they're so used to having a poor defensive PG. Chris Duhon for Farmar and Morrison perhaps. Rafer Alston maybe once Devin Harris gets back. Sasha Vujajic for Charlie Bell. There are options. You can't play much worse than Fisher.

You need to acquire a quick defensive PG or a very good overall PG one or the other. A solid backup material guy might not play. I'd be thrilled beyond all belief if we landed Hinrich though. It'd be simply incredible.

PG- Hinrich, Fisher, SG- Bryant, Stackhouse (bye Sasha), SF- Artest, Walton, PF- Gasol, Odom, Powell, C- Bynum, Mbenga

Good isn't the word I'd use to describe Fisher's defense. I think he's pretty horrible there. One of the worst starting PGs in the league defensively in my estimations.

He's clutch though.
