Mitch says entire bench is available (except Lamar)

Found this on Yahoo. Its down at the bottom. Mitch says teams can take their pick with our bench other than Odom in order to shed salary. Interesting. Would love to see Sasha leave. Would hate to see Powell or Shannon leave.
With a league high payroll of $91 million, the Lakers are looking again to shed salary off their bench, and GM Mitch Kupchak has told teams to take its pick of reserve players – except for Lamar Odom(notes), of course – to relieve the team of some salary.
That idea worked out last season, when losing the salary of Vladimir Radmanovic(notes) to Charlotte unearthed the valuable Shannon Brown(notes) for the Lakers.

Wish we had someting worth taking.

Love to see a small move that could get us another Shannon Brown type player. Doubt anyone's going to take our higher paid scrubs though. IE Luke, Sasha, everyone else is pretty reasonably priced.

Only Shanon and Jordan have trade values.. and then out bench becomes garbage..
I expect this team to last the rest of the season intact..

Borwn is not going to be traded that's for sure. Mitch will probably try and move either Sasha or Luke.

Would anyone be willing to:
sign an extra player
package the extra player with AMMO, Luke, and Sasha
trade the three of them for T-Mac?
Bring back the two training camp fellas we previously let go.
Anyone??

Man. I still can't believe we signed Luke to that many years............ No clue what they were thinking. Even when healthy I don't see how he was worth that contract.

Rockets wouldn't go for it, if we get t-mac, it will be because we signed him next off season for the minimum.

You could always wait it out until next year, then trade Vujajic's expiring for a PG to not add any salary, say Jarret Jack for Vujajic+a future pick and then sign T-Mac to a low level deal. You would pretty much have a devastating overall team.
PG- Jarret Jack, Shannon Brown, Chris Duhon for peanuts
SG- Bryant, McGrady
SF- Artest, McGrady
PF- Gasol, Odom
C- Bynum
I mean you could try to do that a year early and convince Toronto to trade you Jack but I doubt they do it. Perhaps if you trade Farmar along with Vujajic for Jarret Jack it would work. Results in the same thing really.

Its tough for the Lakers to make any moves even with the expiring contracts of Morrison and Farmar. A trade i like is the Lakers going after Mike Miller he also has an expiring contract a trade involving Morrison, Farmar, and DJ would work but I don't know if Miller is even available. But he certainly does fit with the Lakers he's a good shooter can play the 2 and the 3 and even a little bit of PG. Playing time wouldn't be affected Shannon will become the main PG off the bench Miller would do what Brown is doing now the only player affected would be Sasha he probably wont have to take off his warmups for the rest of the year and he'll lose what little confidence he has left.

Shannon & DJ has the most value right now with Farmar a distant third... Nobody will take Luke or Sasha's contract...

Fishing expidition...
Anybody holding their breath for anything to come out of this is as good as dead...
Kuppy's waiting for someone to tell him "Come on in, the water's fine!" and put a deal on the table he can't refuse...
If I was a betting man, I'd put money on the long odds that he was trying to entice someone set to loose a piece in the 'great 2010 FA Harvest' to part with them for expirings...
I think it means less than nothing until someone twitters that they're coming to the Lakers... And then it just means nothing.

A simple salay dump should do. Bye, bye Morrison and Walton - can't believe some of you all actually think he is worth keeping ... incomprehensible!
VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV
Fisher - Farmar
Bryant - Brown
Bynum - Mbenga
Gasol - Odom
Artest - Vujacic
We'd STILL have a glaring weakness at defensive wing, but oh well. Let us all pray that we don't lose Kobe or Artest to injuries ... they are our MOST IMPORTANT players ... we have noone who can replace their defensive production ... absolutely NOONE.

Well Phil thinks Luke is worth keeping that trumps over everything we say about him because he has the power and the money and we don't.

No can do. Cannot sign a free agent then package in a trade for 90 days (ie March at this point, well after the trade deadline).

farmar is playing well, which is why mitch should push for a trade because his value is probably the highest its ever been or will be right about now....
my wish list includes kirk hinrich or andre miller

Hey, if Mitch can turn Kwame into Pau then anything's possible...
I'm not sure why any team woud even consider taking Vujacic at this point. His contract is our worst, and it's GLARING! I'm sure Mitch would be abolutely elated to move him.
At least Morrison has expiring contract and a scrub team might want to give Ammo some PT just to see what he's capable of. He simply can't crack our rotation and it's questionable whether or not the Lakers would even make him an offer in the offseason (If they did, it would be half of what he's making now, obviously). A team looking to make a free-agent splash next offseason might actually want Ammo's contract. This might even be our most valuable asset.
I'm not sure I would trade Farmar unless it's an offer too good to refuse. Farmar has some skills, and good, young PGs are a tough find. Farmar seems to have found some confidence again, and the fact that he will be a restricted free-agent next offseason is motivating him. I guess it all depends on whether or not the Lakers FO see Farmar and Brown as our long-term PG solution.
I guess the catch-22 would be that if we are trading for somebody, we would have to take on their matching salary, so we wouldn't really be cutting payroll. If we are trying to cut payroll, then I think that Mitch is saying he would LOVE to move Sasha and Luke for comprable players with shorter contractual obligations. I think Luke Walton might have some decent trade value.
I would love to get some crappy teams' future first round pick somehow.... I actually don't think the Lakers are too concerned with payroll based on some of Buss' comments lately.
I was thinking that this could be a smokescreen by Mitch, hoping to get some scrub teams to bite on some of our bench players, and we can try to find another diamond-in-the-rough (Ariza, Brown, ect.)
