7.29 seconds of total shut down defense on the Jazz last night before they scored their first bucket in the 4th qt.

I have never seen this team or any team play D like they did last night. I have to admit. TOTAL SHUT DOWN. By far last nights D was as perfect as perfect can get.

Everyone rotated correctly and help D was there everytime the ball rotated. We went from standard defense then sagging inside and everytime the ball rotated to Williams or Booz we came at them with an aggressive double team. Lamars presense as well as Artest in the paint and their aggressiveness is the ticket for us when we play teams like the Nuggets/Cs/and the Cavs and hopefully when we make it to the finals.

This is my appreciation thread for last nights D and the way this team rallied to come back and shut the Jazz down to 6 points in the 4th qt. By far the best D I have ever seen in my life.

Best defensive play IMO was when Deron tried posting up Farmar. Ended up forcing a turnover when Lamar and Kobe trapped Okur in front of Utah's bench.

Just an all around TEAM defensive play by all 5 guys. After the play you could see their energy level rise, great to finally some defensive fire from this team.

The thing that excited me is that their defense was giving them energy for their offense, rather than the opposite which was the case last year. GREAT SIGN, especially come playoffs time when you have those scoring droughts.

It actually started around the end of the 3rd qt and slowly and slowly they went on LOCK DOWN. Came 4th qt and then it was done, not one pass went without a Laker defender covering that pass or that player and everyone rotated over and over and over again as they should've.

I was speachless when I was watching the game and I started yelling to my boys saying "DONT GIVE'EM ISH" and we didnt.

I accidentally fell asleep right before the end of the 3rd quarter (work). Andd I later woke up in a panic to see the box score before seeing anything else. And I'll tell you what, I seriously double checked multiple source sites to confirm my disbelief of the score. I genuinely thought their was an error in the score or some typo. Damn, I'll be the first one to tell you I didn't ever believe this Lakers team had it in em to play that type of D.

Great defense creates great offense ! Ron is definitely making our team a monster on D.

The Lakers were the best defensive team in the league in 2000. They gave up .416 FG over 82. Like what they're doing this year, but I don't think they're as committed yet as that 2000 team was, otherwise Phil still wouldn't have had things to nitpick on our D until the last few games.

Just imagine if we had a solid defensive PG like a Jarret Jack starting instead of Fisher. We'd be pretty hard to stop.

Or better yet, Kirk Hinrich.

The part about it was it came when the Jazz werw feeling themselves! After Deron William threw that lob that went to no one & they still got a lay up out of it, they had a swag to their step. That must have pissed the boys off! They went into a nuclear power plant type of shut down!!! It was great to see. I know they can't do it on that type of level every night, but it would be great to see that type of effort every night
