What could Bynum produce on a team if he was no.1 option?

Bynum is getting limited minutes of late and as a result is producing very limited stats. Would numbers could he average on another team if he was the number one option? discuss

From what Phil Jackson said tonight after the game, Bynum has been fighting a cold so his energy hasn't been there. That pretty much explain it for me with is lackluster play tonight. Bynum was aweful to say the least making stupid fouls e.g. moving screen and not rotating back to his primary assignment as fast. But I'm not going to kid myself. With Pau back, Bynum won't get as much touches and rebounds now.
To answer the question, if Bynum was the numero uno, his numbers would be All Star caliber in my opinion. But consistency could be the question of concern when you are the number one target on your team. Defenses would gear up against you.
Bynum obviously shown what he can do while Gasol was out early this year. Bynum would thrive even more playing on a team like the Hornets with Chris Paul giving him easy dishes.

He wouldn't have Kobe and Pau so he would be subject to a lot of double teams.
my prediction would be: 18 ppg 10rbs 1.5bpg (IF he can stay healthy)

It's kind of an interesting topic. Because if Bynum never got drafted by the Lakers. Who knows if he would even be in the league right now. He was SO RAW coming into the league. And not many other teams has the management, personnel, let alone the patience the Lakers have to develop a big man. Can you imagine a team drafting Bynum at 10 and just throwing him into the starting position his rookie year right out of high school? He would of never developed go to moves and sweet touch that KAJ taught him. He could of had his confidence shattered initially and been like a kwame brown. Lakers definitely brought him along the right way and at the right pace.

20 - 10 absolutely. I think Bynum still needs some polishing on his game away from the paint. He can catch, have patience, and put it in.
But when he is a few steps away from the basket, he is basically average or even below.
He needs to look at alot of Duncan and Pau tapes on those semi-hook shots, off-hand plays, tactically positioning for rebound instead of using pure size all the time (foul-prone and outdoable by tactical guys like C.Hayes), using the glass, using the footwork to score and not just displaying the footwork then quit on it and find some other way to score.
These are all things he would be FORCED to learn when he is the focal point of the offense. he would have no choice. Therefore i think 20 - 10

he went into the draft because he was promised by the lakers to be picked @ the 10 spot if he was still on the board. otherwise he was going to uconn, which probably would have done a good job of helping him develop the first year. regardless, the lakers have done a great job of developing him as you pointed out.
as for the question in the OP, i think it would depend on the rest of the team. if it was bynum and a bunch of scrubs, he'd have a difficult time dealing with the constant double/triple teams. if his team had a few good players to keep the opponent's defense engaged, i think he could be a 20/10/3 guy @ 38-40mpg.

Its easy to look good on a team with Kobe and Gasol. He would average a double double or close to it but its different being a teams go to player....Bynum isn't ready for that..yet.

I agree. 1st option not yet, but as a legit 2nd option like Pau Gasol he would produce something close to 18/10+. Take Pau Gasol out of the picture and you know what he can get you. Him and Kobe were playing very well together as options 1 and 2. Gasol returns and Bynum's seems to have lost confidence in his game.

Excellent point my man.
The Lakers are excelent at NURTURING talent -- squeezing every ounce of talent out of there players -- Jordan Farmar being the exception.

Actually not really, Kwame had rocks for hands. Bynum has always had soft hands, a good baby jumper, and was always a good finisher. The guy has a lot of confidence in his abilities, trust me I knew him growing up.
