If Kobe can keep up his avg 5th all time by next seasin

Wow, my friends were talking hoops today and one thing that shocked me was that in a year or so, if Kobe can keep up his 30ppg average he will shoot to being 5th all-time in scoring at the tender age of 32 behind only Kareem, Malone, Mike and Wilt.

Thats pretty crazy.

If Kobe keeps up his average until he is 34 he will be #1 all time (remember MJ one title #4 when he was age 34!!!)

Props to Kobe and knock on wood because we don't do jinx, but aprreciate it while you can, I think the next 4 seasons may go down as the best in NBA history!!!

Before this season I'd say this was highly unlikely, but now that we once again need 40 from him to beat the Warriors...anything could happen.

OP, how do you spell the word 'season' wrong???

Probably pretty far-fetched to say Kobe will average 30 over a whole season with all the weapons on this squad

What weapons besides Pau Gasol?

If he never scored 30ppg in a season with guys like Brian Cooke, Mo Evans and Smush Parker around him why would it be at all conceivable that he's going to do it with Gasol, Odom, Artest, and Bynum around him?

Kobe has 24,761 points. Julius Erving is #5 all-time with 30,026. Kobe won't pass him for 3 more years. Then he has 8,386 more to go to beat Kareem. Unless Kobe averages 30 ppg until he is 39 years old, he will never be #1 all-time on the scoring list.

actually shaq is 5th right now with 27,909

Dr J has barely 18,364 in the NBA,the rest he scored in the ABA....you don't count those

I don't think kobe can catch wilt and malone but 3rd on the list(MJ 32,292) it's very possible

there are 7531 points between them....30.5 ppg on all 82 games played and he will pass him in 3 years(note he has another 51 games this season and can average even less to catch him)..so at 34 he would have roughly 32,300 points....assuming he declines he would need another 3 2000 points seasons(24.3 ppg on 82 games) to catch kareem so he would need to play till he's 37-38
