February 23rd, 2005!!!
This is the last time we won in the Rose Garden in a thrilling 86-83 Victory! We are currently on an 8 game losing streak to the Blazers. The bleeding has to stop here. Although this isn't the way we would have wanted it, the Blazers are injured but they will be ready to play when the Purple & Gold come to town. The Lakers lead the all time series 108-84

Keys to Victory
Portland is injured & their Front Line is depleted, heck they're using a Center that's been around long enough that I think he used to cheat off my homework papers! Don't give a wounded team a chance. Jump on them early & Dominate the paint, boards included! If the bench plays well we can run them ragged simply because they don't have enough pieces to keep up.

I hate to say it, but this is a loss.

The Blazers simply have our number in their building. We've lost 7 in a row at the Rose Garden and have only won 2 of the last 14 there dating back to 2002 or something crazy like that.

Anyway, maybe we'll pull a Clippers and break the streak.

We'll win this.....Portland is too depleted to compete with our size advantage. And they're without Travis Outlaw who is a Laker head hunter, can't remember a bad game he's ever had against us. LaMarcus is coming off a ankle sprain, but for them to do well he has to play well.

Roy will duel with Kobe, the one I'm worried about is Bayless........the boy is explosive. The key for the Lakers will be to pound the ball inside to Drew, no way in hell can Juwan Howard guard Drew. They'll have to double with Aldridge which should free up LO. But yeah the streak ends for no wins up there.

So the doubters are semi-sentient and j-far while myself and Anklebreaker believe it ends.

My signature used to be a quote from a Laker fan that read something to the effect about how Portland always beats LA in Portland and that the Blazers could suit up their janitorial staff and still win. Its pretty sad when that is almost literally what the Blazers are doing these days.

No:
Rudy Fernandez
Joel Pryzbilla
Steve Blake
Greg Oden
Travis Outlaw
Nicolas Batum

That's 3 starters and the next 3 off the bench.. Ouch.

The streak dies tomorrow. Its pretty funny that some of you actually think that Portland will win tomorrow night; its a testament to the signature I used to sport. The Blazers for whatever reason have won time and again. The Lakers sport the 2nd worst record in the Rose Garden - 2nd to the Clippers.

That is all water under the bridge after tomorrow night.

That, mainly because we have this wonderful habit of making crappy/depleted teams look like championship contenders against us, and because of our poor history in the Rose Garden. Then again, maybe the new decade will bring a new winning streak alongside it.

What does this even mean? No excuses for who? No excuses for Portland even though they are down this many players or no excuses for the Lakers last lost or no excuses for LA to not win tomorrow? Portland clearly has an excuse - as Portland would rout LA if they were missing this many key contributors. There is no excuse for the Laker loss to the Clips. And, there are no excuses possible for a Laker loss in Portland tomorrow. I mean if all on the list above would be Laker bench players - AND Portland is missing them as STARTERS- there is no excuse for a loss.

As I said, it's a loss. I would like to see them matched up when all are healthy.

Kobe leading us to a win tonight would wash away that lame performance against the Clippers. I've had this marked as a loss on the calendar for quite some time, so it would be a huge victory. I don't care who is out for the Blazers. A win in the Rose Garden is big regardless seeing as how they beat us there no matter who they have.

Gasol is sitting this one out too, I take it?

If he was healthy I'd say we got this one. Portland has done pretty dang good the past few games considering how destroyed their roster is.

I'm not gonna guarantee the outcome. On one hand, it's the Rose Garden. On the other, losing to the Clips might make the guys (well, some of them) angry and/or embarrassed enough to dial up their play tonight.

Go Lakers.

I'm expecting a big game from Andrew Bynum due to the absence of Pau Gasol. Bynum just has a hard time adjusting to playing with Pau Gasol. He plays much better with Lamar Odom. It kind of upsets me that the Bynum Gasol experiment isn't working the way we had hoped it would.

Every time Gasol is out, Bynum seems to have good games but when he plays with Gasol its like he goes back into his shell and becomes more of a passive player. He still hasn't seemed to learn to rebound with Gasol in the area and seems way more comfortable doing it when Odom is there.

Gotta take advantage and exorcise the hex while they're decimated with injuries.
