Minnesota NBA fan here. No team in Minny when I was a kid, so I followed the Lakers. Used to practice big man moves a-la Wilt and Kareem in my driveway. Fun times...

Hope you guys kick ass and win again this year! :)

Easily the most athletic back to the basket Center ever...
Most athletic 7+er ever...
Probably the most Physically gifted NBAer ever... Maybe the most physically gifted athelete

His height made it look easier for him but all the people saying LeBron is the most athletic NBAer ever needs to go back and watch wilt... Also when people call LeBron the most physically gifted ever, they clearly weren't alive when Wilt played...

Wilt was a multi-sport track and field star too... He could straight move and jump.

The only reason Kareem was a better center, was because Kareem could play a TEAM-first game.

Thanks for posting this... Welcome.

^ Do you realize what era Wilt played in?
Is it to much to ask for a team that plays hard and cares? Seems so.

Some info from Wikipedia... "...he was an avid track and field athlete: as a youth, he high jumped 6 feet, 6 inches, ran the 440 yards in 49.0 seconds and the 880 yards in 1:58.3, put the shot 53 feet, 4 inches, and broad jumped 22 feet."

I suppose they had different stop-watches and rulers back in that other 'era' too...

Physical gifts are not era specific... To discount a player because he never played on ESPN, is to not really understand the mechanics of basketball.

And the biggest counter to the 'other era' argument?... Converse All-Stars...

Wilt was like a bigger, faster, quicker, longer, higher jumping, Hakeem... He might have even been more skilled as well...

And he did it all with gunny-sacks and flapjacks tied to his feet...

Old Kareem owned young Hakeem and Prime Wilt owned Prime Kareem... Kareem was Wilt's only real compettition. I can keep going but I'm not sure when these magical era boundries start making players better...

Hakeem owned Shaq in 95 even getting double-teamed against Orlando in the finals...

Wilt was 268 to 300 pounds during his career too... That's a handfull for anybody, from any era... Even Shaq... Who never had to face anybody elite, anywhere near that size.

Russell wasn't real competition for Wilt?

Also what happened in 1986? Old Kareem dominating Young Hakeem? Are you kidding me? The Western Conference Finals was a 4-1 massacre with Hakeem dominating old Kareem. I'll just give you a pass on that comment for not having any idea what you are talking about.

Twin Towers??? Ralph Sampson????????

Just as a refresher...
7'4" tall
20ppg-10rpg in the playoffs
Had the game of his career against us and hit the game 5 winning shot... (ie: NOT a blow-out or a massacre...)

Were you there? I was... Kareem wins every one-on-one battle, but the double-team limits him...

Houston's team D was just way better than the Lakers offense... D wins championships...

Bill Russel was in fact no real competition for Wilt 1 on 1... He was shorter and less athletic...

Russel's TEAMs were infinitely better though...

This was about personal Physical Gifts... Wilt was the most physically gifted Center ever...

Would he have scored 100 in a game in todays league? Probably not.... Kobe's 81 was probably more impressive...
Would his stats have been as good? Probably not...

He didn't have a whole lot of interest in the team game either. So he wasn't the best center ever...

Kareem, Russel, Shaq... Etc are arguably better because of their team performance.

But none of that changes the fact that Wilt was a freak of nature... No big man should be able to move like that... And I don't think I've ever seen a 7'er jump like him...

And I'll say it again, I think Wilt's physical gifts were way more impressive than Shaq, Dwight, LeBron or any of the other "most physically gifted" players ever.
