hoopsworld: lakers may work out a deal to get hinrich

"Chicago needs to make a deal to get further under the cap. The Brown deal is likely a precursor for what's to come - even if nothing is imminent. If the Bulls don't get a better deal, the Lakers may have a package for Hinrich that would provide Chicago the space they covet."

Quite sure that would make all these Hinrich lovers on this board bust a load, if the Lakers do that they'll become even worse on the top perimeter of the defense.

i don't think the lakers are willing to take on that huge contract, but if they've decided to bump up their salary even more, sasha would be on his way out for sure.

really though, thats a lot of money to take on.

I would be quite content if they could acquire Hinrich.

what i understand of this note is that the lakers already made an offer for hinrich and that chicago is going to acept the offer in case they dont get what they are looking for.
If we asume that chicago is looking for expiring for hinrich this means that the lakers had made an offer of ammo and sassha for hinrich and for me thats a really good trade for the lakers

I don't think it's anything newer than last weeks Eric Pincus "thoughts" pre LA roadie, combined with the recent acquisition.

I think Farmar has to be included, you think Farmar would wanna be here if he has to play behind Fish and Kirk

Yo Deep Hinrich I always thought was an excellent perimeter defender. A couple years ago he was known to one of the few guys that could stick with DWade.

Hinrich is EASILY a better defender than Fisher, Farmar and Brown.

I find it hard to believe that the Lakers would be willing to take on his contract, but I would be happy if they did. Better defender than any PG we have and even in his down years he's been a solid 3 point shooter. (career 38%, never been under 35) and that would go up with all the open looks he would get here. He's probly be around 38-40%. We'd easily have the best defense in the league.

I would trade Farmar/Morrison or Farmar/Sasha for him.

Hinrich/FIsher/Brown
Bryant/Brown
Artest/Walton
Gasol/Odom/Powell
Bynum/Mbenga

ridiculous defense....

Hopefully Farmar has upped his trade value enough in the past few weeks. If this deal doesn't go down at least we have him playing at a much higher level than usual.

Also, Hinrich is everything Phil looks for in a PG -- big, defensive minded, good 3 point shooter

Well as a Bulls fan,I would hate to see Capt Kirk gone.Kirk has been on fire for us lately, but seeing hom for 7yrs,his greatest asset is his ball hawking D. Friday,he held Nash to 8pts and 7 to,and he will guard from pg to sf.But we have bigger fish to catch(LBJ,CB4,D Wade),so either he or Salmons has to go.Why do yall think we got Devin Brown?? Rest assured one of them is gone.Btw,I would like to see Kirk on the Lakers,it would be good for him. And as for him making yall D worse, not true at all.

I'm not against the contract. I look at it like this:

At PG, they would either have to use MLE next season (~ 5.5)
or keep Farmar and Fisher (2.5 and 3.0 arguments sake = 5.5)

Either way, Hinrich minus 5.5 not spent next year = 3.5

It's a worthwhile 3.5 mil for solid (I'm not going to say great since I don't watch him nightly) D and seemingly right skill set (willingness to defer and hit a jumper once in a while) as a Tri PG on a stacked team.

As Pincus points out, if Sasha is included (or dealt in July): -5.475, take away whatever comes back.

The salary +/- isn't terrible.

In summer 2011, it has either worked out splendidly - or LA has a fat 8.5 expiring to dangle, along with Bynum's expiring (TO) and LO's expiring (partial guar).

the lakers would be lucky if they could dump sasha with either fisher or farmar for kirk... but i would feel really bad for the bulls getting sasha... kirk is a better defender, younger, stronger and more consistent player - as a laker hater, i would actually not like to see kirk on the lakers

You mean 2012.

Our PG defense is not as much of an issue this year as the last. Guys are awful at rotation and there is zero communication on defense. Getting Hinrich won't solve those problems.

DEEP you know I got mad love for you my bradah, but Hinrich is a terrific perimeter defender specially when he is on the ball. In fact I think HE PLAYS MAD DEFENSE!!! He is a great on the ball perimeter defender and I think he has a very high B-Ball I.Q that will defiantly fit better in our system than Farmar or Sasha and Fisher combined. And I like everything daddyfivestar pointed out.

Do I think this will happen, I doubt it, but am I all for it. Ish ya if we can get rid of Sasha and Farmar and a pick.......... Im all in.
