Hollinger predicts Kobe finishes with...

Post#1 » by Dr Aki » Thu Jan 28, 2010 4:34 am

36,621 points, good for #3 all-time behind kareem and malone amongst various other laker related stats.

http://espn.go.com/blog/los-angeles/lak ... stics#more

i personally think kobe's got more in him than 5 total current production years spread over 7-8 seasons remaining

but i honestly think, if kobe is close enough, hes going for the all-time #1 points scoring record.

what do u guys think??

I think he plays til about 38. If he does, he has a good chance to catch Malone. He also has a shot to catch Kareem if he plays til 40.

He's 31 right now, averaging 28. If he stays relatively healthy (75+ games every year) and his ppg goes down by 1 every year (27 @ 32, 26 @ 33, 25 @ 34 etc) he will have about 37,000 at 38 which would pass Malone.

If the Lakers are good he is playing

Bynum will be 30 in 8 years

I can see him being #1 plus there are a few great years coming.

Also consider he has been an iron man (KNOCK ON WOOD) he plays in more games than most
Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!

He would have to average over 20 points for 20 years. Kareem was the focal point of his offense for 18 seasons...we'll see how things evolve with the Lakers.

As far as I can tell, 24 points is still "over 20 points," right? ;)

It's DAMN hard to get to that amount as a guard. Seriously... It would surprise me to be honest.

But I hope that doesn't matter. I hope we just keep winning championships and Kobe secures his legacy as high as possible.

I think Kobe wants the most championships ever, I don't think he cares too much about the other stuff...

Both he and Tiger have said over the years that they probably wouldn't play as long as people think. So who knows...

I really don't think he'll pass Kareem though... That's a pretty monumental mark.
