Magic fan with a question

Post#1 » by OMagic1989 » Tue Feb 9, 2010 4:33 pm

Magic fan in peace.

What is the main reason you guys have lost to the Cavs this year?

I hate the Cavs and even though you guys beat us in the finals I would rather see you win than Mebron and Veramange.

Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.
Magic fan since Inaugural 89 season.

xmas we lost because the team was uninspired and didn't take it seriously. you could tell from the pregame interviews that they didn't the Cavs seriously.

second game was more competitive, but you could sense some holding back. some of us thought that Phil didn't want to "show his hand" in the regular season. the playoffs are a different animal anyway. I am sure we haven't seen everything from the Cavs, but they have seen even less of what we have. as a magic fan you should know better since your team humiliated us in the regular seaason last year.

btw I feel the same way about Denver.

First game - Lackadaisical apathy. No one showed up except for Kobe and Artest, mostly. Team didnt take the Cavs or the game seriously, while the Cavs took it very seriously.

Second game - Their frontcourt physically dominated our's. Thats pretty much it.

If Bynum played the way he did against the Celtics it would have been a different outcome.

I have a hard time understanding how the OLD centers and Veramange can dominate your front line. Your talent level is FAR above Clevelands. You must be right the only way Cleveland beats your front line is you did not care.

They seem to be the only team with both the length to deal with our triple towers and they were super physical. Bynum had a root canal after a first quarter elbow from Shaq and Pau looked like a sissy.

All in all we'd take a series, but they beat up on us twice by following the Rockets roadmap to competing with us.

OP I love that you have the same hate for that team than I do. I think the same I'd rather have you guys win if the LAL can't take it. My hate for the Cavs is nearly at the same level as the Celtics.

Lazy defense is why the LAL have lost to the Cavs twice IMO. That team on paper is clearly inferior you just can't let anyone else beat you other than LaCrab. Her greatest gift other than her alien athletisism and her fantastic off ball defense is her ability to pass. She finds the open man all game long and they are wide open. As long as the LAL don't help too much on her, they can't beat the LAL if the LAL stick to everybody else. She is only the greatest athlete that I've ever seen.

Tony I changed it from LeCrab to LaCrab, awaiting your approval of course. She is a female crab from what I see. She dresses up in womens tennis clothes on the weekends and makes some nice serves and volleys; I think that more than qualifies her as a female. She usually plays her sister in the final as well. Wait, shouldn't she be playing in the WNBA then?

Old or not, Shaq is still a huge matchup issue, literally and figuratively. And say what you want about Verejao, but he's one of the best defensive forwards in the league. Put together and it's a total contrast between physicality and finesse. So far, physicality is winning.

Although I agree 100% with this:

i think alot of people underestimate them. that is a strong deep physical team. lebron is NOT playing with scrubs. they have better deep shooters. they can match us in the front court. they have guys like gibson and west who used to be starters, now coming off their bench. jj hickson is a straight stud! they have a coach who preaches defense defense defense. add in any star player and you have a contender.
Only on realgm is 27,000 points, 5 rings, 1 rs mvp and 2 finals mvp considered overrated!

Poor shooting / Cavs defense is the answer...

31-85 for .365 % in first game
32-83 for .386 % in the second.

Not getting it done.

Particularly when Cavs shot .543 and .479

front court domination

pure and simple, first game it was crap intensity and the game just ran away from us...

the second, was our front court getting owned:
1. bynum - foul trouble (as always)
2. pau - played like a wimp, kept going to a back to the basket game when he CLEARLY had the speed and ball handling abilities to blow by shaq/Z

i hope its phil not showing his hand, our validation doesnt come in the regular season

Personally, I think it's because Kobe was injured. He couldn't will the team like he usually do. Because of his ankle, defending LeBron was harder. Plus, because of the shooting finger injury, it really affected his shooting percentage.

Take Chistmas off. No one wants to play on that day. Only Stern thinks it is a good ideal. Who wants to sit around and watch when there is so much else going on.

phil jackson likes the team to find their way during the season. play at a high level turning into the playoffs. we are still finding our way. the cavs defeated our team, but they have gigantic weaknesses. we will not gel and get into playoff form till later in the season. bet on it. at the time we played the cavs, we were not on a high competive level with our energy and all cylinders clickin at the same time. believe this, should we face off with them, we will take them down.

I think it was because Cleveland wanted it more, both games. They just wanted it more and worked harder for both wins. All the loose balls, rebounds, etc, Bynum and Gasol were being outworked by freakin Varejao. If Bynum and Gasol both tried as hard as Varajao, Varajeo would probably score 2 points, and get 5 fouls and not be any factor. I'm sure of this.

So yeah I think it was all about effort and not about matchups/talent.
