Since February 5, 2008 (Gasol's first Laker game)

Record with All 3 playing (Gasol, Bynum, Odom) = 65-17 for .793 win%

With only Gasol/Odom = 40-11 for .784 win%

With only Bynum/Odom = 10-6 for .625 win%

Basically, the three together are most effective.

So all those saying it's not working and want to trade one can... oh wait, that's me.

By the way, Gasol/Bynum is 100% ( 2-0 )

It's better to look at who's starting in those games. There's no question that we're better when all 3 are healthy, but it depends on who is starting.

Since 2007-08 (starting lineups):

Bynum/Gasol: 67-17 = .798 (41-7 home, 26-10 away)

Odom/Gasol: 48-12 = .800 (23-2 home, 25-10 away)

There's not much difference, but the Odom/Gasol combo does have more impressive road victories (better opponents) and did quite a bit of damage in the post-season.

I think it all comes down to what we are as a basketball team. The reasoning behind starting Bynum alongside Gasol was to make us a more potent defensive line up with a big man who can anchor the defense.

Has Bynum been able to do that? I don't think so and with the injuries and what not we haven't been successful in changing our attitude on that end and we now end up being a slightly inferior offensive unit than we were when we started Gasol and Odom.

The other problem the change has brought on us is that the ball now has to find its way to two offensive players in the post, whose efficiency zones overlap with each other, making one of them useless when the other has the ball in his hands. Gasol does find Bynum for some nice dunks now and then but do you really want Gasol operating in the mid post if you were the Lakers staff?

This little break has shown us that we can get back to being what we characteristically are, a much better offensive team that relies on the faster ball movement and quick switches on defense. Which we get by having Odom and Gasol together, not to mention having one of the most dominating rebounders in the league on the floor for most of the time.

Bynum will fit the mold of a scorer off the bench to perfection. He can get his touches with the 2nd unit and in a couple of seasons he could make the gradual move to being a starter. Now that he's got his big contract and the commitment from the Lakers, he needs to put the team above his personal benefits.

I want to see us go back to the team that bulldozed through the Western Conference in 07-08 with their ball movement and precise spacing. We now have a couple of weapons in Artest and Shannon who are athletic and can improve our defense without the need for an anchor to erase the perimeter players' mistakes. If we do need an anchor Gasol can do a half decent job that we expected from Bynum.

"Gasol - LO - Kobe" has been our core and they will be what this squad will be built upon. Artest, Bynum etc are the complimentary pieces that can be worked in but not at the expense of one of these 3 guys taking a back seat.

I wish Bynum would embrace being the main scoring threat off the bench. He could still get his 30mpg but his touches would be up, particularly with Luke entry-passing, Brown and Jordan spotting up, LO or Ron for the weakside glass.

Put me on the bandwagon.

bynum suck ass at help defensive rotation, hes better off the bench now. Odom/pau/kobe is more effective. If only we can fuse Dj defensive mentality into bynum

I say we need all 3 to win a championship and i think Bynum will be one of the best C in the league.

Pretty much exactly what I believe, I was pusing for some sort of Bynum for elite PG trade but then I realized Bynum could still be very useful off the bench against teams that seem to bully Gasol. (Though this isn't as much of a problem as in previous seasons.) The Lakers offense has dropped while there Defense has some what improved, but I miss the old starting roster of Odom / Gasol.
