2. Stern saves money on a plane ticket and hotel costs
3. Mavs are one of the best teams in the West and Kidd is second fiddle to Dirk.

So is he still helping Shannon in the slam dunk contest or is someone else stepping in for that too? It'd suck for Shannon that all his prior preparations would have to change a week before the all star weekend.

I imagine he'll be there. All the All-Stars, even the injured players, have responsibilities during the weekend with community events and everything.
