http://news.bostonherald.com/blogs/spor ... ion=recent SACRAMENTO — The Celtics continue to look good in their pursuit of Nate Robinson, but as of late tonight it is still not a done deal.
The Knick guard needs to approve any trade, and according to a source close to Robinson, he has not yet received a call.
But as it stands at the moment, there is just one team possibly in the Celts’ way — the same team they’ll compete against Thursday, the Lakers.
L.A. is said to have interest in Robinson, and a league source said the Celtics and Lakers are the only teams he’s told the Knicks would get his pre-approval. There have been reports he’s agreed to go elsewhere, as well, but a source said tonight that Boston and L.A. are his only definites.

This one I just don't get...
Isn't Shannon Brown basically a bigger Nate with a better head on his shoulders?
Nate's strength is running the floor and driving or hitting the open man (like SB). How's he going to improve our half-court game?

Could Mitch be trying to get Nate just to ship Brown and fillers to Bulls for Heinrich? I mean I dunno I have heard this rumor earlier in the year too before the Heinrich rumblings. My scenario would jack up the chemistry too... I am at a loss here.

DO IT!! I would love to have Nate or Hinrich on this Team. Every team is trying to upgrade to keep up with us. Our only weakness is defending quick young pg's. Nate and Hinrich especially will close that gap.

I always worry about team chemistry, I think it's an underrated factor when us fans discuss trades. Even the guys who get little playing time have their role in the season and in the post season. It doesn't just mean chemistry on the court.

LA doesn't really have anyone who can be dealt straight up, due to Nate's BYC. It would have to be a multi-player... and then you get into that chemistry issue.
I'd like to have the Mini-Microwave but it doesn't seem do-able.

THIS DEAL WORKS...
LAKERS GET:
Nate Robinson - $4,000,000 (1 Year/Exp)
Jared Jeffries - $6,466,600 (2 Years)
TOTAL: $10,466,600
KNICKS GET:
Adam Morrison - $5,257,229 (1 Year/Exp)
Sasha Vujacic - $5,000,000 (2 Years)
TOTAL: $10,257,229
WHY IT SHOULD GET DONE:
Lakers gets fast type guard (Robinson) to guard fast PGs. Lakers take on Jefferies and give up Vujacic, Knicks save $1,466,600, if the Knicks aren't able to deal Jefferies at least they save that much off their payroll. If the Lakers are gonna be stuck with a contract I'm sure they could use Jefferies more than Vujacic, he'd also be valuable expiring contract next season. Jefferies also gives the Lakers an upgrade at back-up PF, could also play back-up C if needed. Knicks get bigger expiring contract with Morrison. Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni would probably like that fact that Vujacic played in the Italian League for 3 seasons prior to joining the NBA, D'Antonio LOVES Italian League players as he once coached and played in that league.

I proposed that deal in the trade thread as well. I like it, NY only saves a few mil off the cap for next year, but its better then nothing for them. Jefferies could be useful as a backup defender on the bigger SFs like Mello and Bron if Ron is in foul trouble.

Who says he has to improve our half court game? I like our second unit to be an uptempo unit that uses it's strengths to run and gun, keep the lead or get us back in games if we're down. Nate would be a good fit for this.

Kilroy has an interesting theory about this Nate news but if u wanna trade Shannon and some fillers to the Bulls for Hinrich those fillers would be Morrison and Farmar how would the Lakers get Nate from the Knicks they would not take Sasha's contract unless the Knicks are close to getting Mcgrady and are able to get rid of the Jeffries contract which would lessen the hit the Knicks take by bringing in Sasha's contract. That's the only scenario I see happening where the Lakers would end up with Nate and Hinrich.

Well it's better than nothing I guess but 1,5mill. really isn't much. It's definitely better than getting ass raped by Houston and Vujacic might actually improve under D'Antoni.

Its being reported here in Chicago that if the Bulls cant get some value for Kirk, they will just let him go for just about a bag of chips. They dont wanna do it, but they almost have no choice .Maybe we can get back Shannon Brown and your expirings.Shannon is from Chicago and we will have a all Chicago backcourt

True, but also remember that they save double that amount because the Knicks are over the cap.

Well lets just hops the Bulls other potential deals fall threw and they get desperate and take Sasha in a HInrich trade the Bulls still save 3.5 million if they take on Sasha's contract. That should be better than not getting savings during the trade deadline.

Eh, not too disappointed. Didn't really know what Robinson was going to give us.

I think we will get him, because it is his option for where he goes, and I believe he would pick the Lakers over celtics if he knows they both set out a deal that new york will take. Even if the celtics offer is better, he wouldn't do it for the knicks, and he would decline, forcing them to trade him for the only other team he will go to, the Lakers. He would also be on the bench with the celtics, but on the Lakers, he would either start, or get a lot of minutes behind whoever is starting at PG.
