Update on Kobe?

Guys, when will Kobe be back in action? Back then, I was really wanting him to sit out and hating him in his excess shooting but I really miss his game and his presence in the court. Does anybody here have an update on his condition?

Completely agree. I'd rather him come back completely healthy, ready to dominate as soon as he get's back. Hopefully he can balance his pent up energy with playing within the team offense.

Well we lost to Boston cause this team doesn't know how to close out games without Kobe, Pau bitches about touches but he passes to Shannon in crunch time, I don't care how good this team looks without Kobe last night showed that when it comes down to the wire this team doesn't have anyone that wants to takeover

we'll be fine. hopefully they can keep up the pace for just a little while longer. i would like for kobe to be a 100% so he can come and mesh with the fella's while they remind people why they are the champs.

I have a wierd feeling Kobe is going to be out a while longer. Not sure why. Home court is important. But it will mean nothing if we do not get out of the west and Denver is just sitting there waiting. They can score and run there offense so well. It is so scary to see them play.

Just take it one game at a time and hope we win all the ones we are supposed to win.

+1.........And that's what made all those, "Kobe needs to take notes" and "I hope Kobe is watching this" crap seem even more crazy than it was at the time. I hated coming to the board on game nights consistently seeing that crap.

Like I said, you can get away with it for 4-5 games until your opponent catches up to it. And low and behold we got to game 5 and lost.

It was never about Kobe, it was about these jack asses stepping up their game and staying aggressive weather he's on the floor or not.

The question I have is whether or not Kobe will be forced down the stretch into a facilitator role entirely because of our defensive difficulties at the 1. We may have to play either Brown or Sasha there at times against difficult match-ups, forcing Kobe to play a major role facilitating the offense.

Well Phil even said that now that the streak is over there is no reason for him not to wait until he's fully healthy. Sitting out the Celts game gave him another 5 days of rest so it was a smart move. And it let the team work against a good defensive opponent capable of adjusting the game plan for not having Kobe. Duncan even said their entire gameplan is hinged on stopping and adjusting to Kobe, we go in there without him and they didn't know where everything was coming from. Give teams time to plan and it gets a lot harder. All this did was confirm what some of us already knew, Pau is a great player, but he is not a #1 option. He's Scottie Pippen, plenty capable, but too cerebral, too unselfish, and just not a killer. He thinks too much, tries too hard to make the corect play (which is good for most of the game) but in crunch time you have to DO and he just doesn't quite have that instinct. Its not necessarily a bad trait, but it makes him who he is, a great player and the perfect complimentary player. Alpha dogs win rings period. Pau isn't an alpha, he's just not.

On some good notes though, guys have stepped up, our front court killed them, our backcourt is just overmatched. Fish can't create his own shot and Shannon has been impressive, but he's still a little too raw. I hope we keep him though and he keeps developing because he certainly has all the tools, but for now he's still another complimentary guy, best on junk plays and off the ball shots/plays in the flow of the offense. I love what I've seen from Lamar though, this is the best LO stretch we've seen since he took it to Marion in the Suns series a few years back. Once again Pau trying to make the correct cerebral play instead of realizing whats going on cost Lamar a great move. Even though he didn't finish the layup I think he would have gotten the foul if not for the TO... Kobe doesn't need to take notes, if these guys continue to play with this effort and assertiveness, he'll adjust to them I guarantee.

One bright spot I see with Fish though, as much as I think Phil needs to sit down with him adn go a direction, start Shannon or Farmar and use Fish for what he is at this point, a situational shooter and couple mins at a time backup, he does kow how to get up in the face of Ray and Mo and isn't the worst defensive option on either of those guys shoudl we meet one of them in the finals... If only Farmar woudl use that damn quickness to defend...

+1. The kobe talk was down right stupid. If this team can play as hard as they have been, WITH kobe on the floor, this team would be unbeatable. Energy and Effort.

Last year and this year, units that played Vujajic or Farmar at PG have been so much better defensively that any offensive drop off is worth it and I'm not convinced there will be a heavy drop off.

Sorry guys but if we're picking between Vujachick and Fish ... that's a real easy pick.

Easy like Medvdenko or Horry.

Yes right now I got with Vujajic. That's how terrible it is.

Fisher is durable and that's been a blessing for him. As little athleticism as he has he's taken care of himself with exceptional strength for his size and stays low to the ground (no choice). It's part of the reason he's still in this league.
