Have any of you read this article RealGM put up yesterday, "Being GM Of John Wall's NBA Team"...
http://www.realgm.com/src_feature_pieces/874/20100224/being_gm_of_john_wall%5Cs_nba_team/...it mentions the Lakers a couple times as a possible option, unlikely obviously, if a team with a star PG were to win the lottery (Example: Utah who owns the Knicks pick and already has star PG Deron Williams). It mentions trading Bynum for Wall, other players would have to be included in a deal as well... I love Bynum but I would trade him for Wall in a split second!!!
PG - John Wall
SG - Kobe Bryant
SF - Ron Artest
PF - Lamar Odom
C- Pau Gasol

That will never happend because the Lakers are very likely going to at least be a conference finalist this season no one wants to help them and the Jazz especially wont want to help by letting Wall come to the Western conference.

I mentioned this in the Warriors trade thread. I'd do it if he came along with half decent legit C.
Say Utah gets the pick, they have D Will and they have been needing a true C for years... Wall + S&T Haywood for Bynum? Good for both teams and I'd do it in a heartbeat.
Honestly with Haywood sitting out there as FA, you could add him along in the deal with any of the teams that might win Wall and I'd be happy with it.
Unlikely but its a nice dream. Another interesting senario would be if NJ gets him. They will probably move Harris at that point. I wonder what they would need in return to get them to part with Lopez as well in exchange for the NJ native Bynum. Say Bynum beasts it enough to say that he was a legit big part of a title run this year, would they then consider it? We get Harris and Lopex, they get Bynum, some cap relief for another vet and maybe some picks or a S&T to fill it out with a 3rd team somehow?
If they played their cards right they could instantly go to something like
Wall
JJ
Whoever
Amare
Bynum
They'd compete right away. we'd end up with
Harris
Kobe
Ron
Pau
Lopez
not bad, bring the cali kid back home...

But in the unlikely event Utah does get the top pick I would trade Bynum for the top pick. Then later in the summer trade Sasha to open up some money and go after Haywood to replace Bynum resign Fish as a temporary starter and mentor to Wall and resign Shannon if he opts out.
Dream 2010-2011 Lakers
PG. Fisher, Wall
SG. Kobe, Shannon, Rookie(Pick from Memphis)
SF. Artest, Walton
PF. Gasol, Odom, Gaffney
C. Haywood, Elonu

NJ fan will laugh at Lopez/Harris for Bynum... they sometimes forget they are 5-52 with those two guys as their primary options.

oh I know, i'm just dreamin, although if there was someway to incorporate a 3rd team with our future picks and somehow giving them some additional cap space, something else basically to make the deal worthy it could possibly work. Like pull in Yi's contract and give them Brown and draft pics and cash or something

agreed, but I can't blame them for laughing at it. From the very little I've seen of Brook, they're arguably a wash, add Harris to that (money/contracts aside) and I'd laugh, too.

If the Lakers get to the Finals and/or win the championship, no way in hell the Lakers trade Bynum. He's considered one of the core players in the team.

Im not so sure what sofa king said is totally true if the Lakers win the championship its unlikely they do this but Bynum probably isn't going to be a superstar he'll probably be a nice player just not the Kobe or Lebron level NBA player Wall has the potential of being the next big superstar in league. They should put the potential offer out there if the Jazz get the top pick if the Jazz even consider it the Lakers should make it happen this could the 21st century version of the Divac for Kobe trade. This trade if Wall lives up to his potential could set the Lakers up as contenders for the next 10 yrs.

I'd trade Bynum or Gasol for any DYNAMIC QUARTERBACK who can set up Kobe, Artest and Bynum or Gasol for the next 4 years.
D. Williams (nill), Evan Turner, LBJ (near nill), Wall, Paul, Roy (near nill), Harden, OJ Mayo (very intriguing), Steph Curry (near nill), Westbrook (near nill), Rose (nill), Iguodala (very intriguing), and Evans (nill) all qualify.
Iguodala is the path of least resistance.

I would agree with you, and add that lopez doesnt get injured every season.

Bynum is better than Lopez because he is at the very least physically imposing.

Really depends on his post-season impact.
Two yrs ago - Finals, no impact (injured).
Last year - Championship, minimal impact (recovering).
This year - ??
Either way, if he is healthy and beasts they'll know what they have, or if he is healthy and subpar they'll know what they have.

It will never happen, Jimmy went to war with Phil and Jeanie for Andrew. Bynum is his throphy and you would actually think that he would give him up for a rookie.
Bynum is finally coming around and if we can hopefull repeat then I think this summer we can find and we will add a legit p.g or better yet Farmar and Shannon can step up and take over Fishers spot when he retires.

Tonymontana I think Jimmy Buss would go after the Wall who could potentially be one the associations next great players and being supporter of Bynum shouldn't stop him. Basically do the Lakers want a Pippen like player in Bynum or a Jordan like player who could potentially carry an entire franchise on his back.

I would love the Bynum for Tyreke Evans idea have him be our Ron Harper type point guard while grooming him having him learn from kobe and eventually replace him in 4 or 5 years

Seriously, Wall is not Jordan. Hell Kobe is not Jordan.
Until the Lakers out right say that Bynum is on the trading blocks, I won't believe some lame ass article from REALGM on speculation. I've read such articles about Lakers trading Odom for Marion when Marion was with the Suns back then; how asinine is that?
I get better reporting from Peter Vecsey and BSPN than this.
NO! I do not think the Kings are dumb enough to help the Lakers upgrade the PG spot and the Lakers are stupid enough to trade away one of the core players. I label this article SOFA KING WE TARDED!
