Report: Lebron a Laker?

He wants to play for them. And James is not all that concerned whether Kobe Bryant is part of the equation. Bryant, of course, has yet to sign a contract extension with L.A. and could wind up a free-agent himself, albeit one with high mileage.
But the overtures have been made. LeBron wants to wear the purple and gold. Mainly, he wants to wear a championship ring, which means he wants to play for Lakers coach Phil Jackson.
“LeBron wants to win. He’s a smart guy,” explainsone of my best inside sources, a close Jackson associate. “And Phil loves LeBron, absolutely LOVES him.”
Source
For one, its an article by Roland Lazenby, one of the solid Lakers reporters around. Two, if its a source close to Phil and from Roland, the source is most likely Tex Winter. Three, Tex Winter must be senile after reading this article and Roland is a fool for reporting such a story.

Lazenby is a reporter who is in the inner circle with the Lakers so this cannot be tabloid sensationalism.

Not a pipe dream at all. Lebron going to NY is a bigger pipedream.
There is really only a few places Lebron could end up.
Back in Cleveland........If they win Championship
Chicago.........Sign and trade with another star signing
Lakers...... Bynum is a huge asset
NY will be used as a threat but he will never go there.
If not Lebon Wade?
I could see the Lakers dangle Bynum out there to see if there are any takers.
In the end it would really be the players decision whether they want to play in L.A. or not
How cool would it be if the Lakers are the biggest players in the historic 2010 market?
After winning the Championship

That'd be even bigger getting Worthy with the 1st pick after winning the ring.

I don't want him here. Let him join the Knicks and fight to make the playoffs.

Can you imagine if this happens. There is thread already on the Cavs board about Phils remark about Z and all they can talk about is Lakers getting Pau for free and Jerry West orchestrated it all before he left Memphis and made sure Pau ended up in LA.
Only god knows what happens if the Crab comes to LA. They'll probably start crying and claim Jerry West had a secret affair with Lebrons mom to get him to come to LA..............

Cool, we can clone our own players. I prefer starting with Kobe first before Artest though.

I'd take Lebron in a heartbeat. I'd be fascinated by the on-court dynamic between Kobe and Lebron. It would still be Kobe's team, but he'd have to inevitably give up the reigns to Lebron. I'm not sure if Kobe's ready for that. Kobe would take on a Chauncey Billups role in the Melo/Billups dynamic.

WTF? Are there guys in this thread who seriously wouldn't want LeBron? Now I know this is pure pipe...but saying you wouldn't want LB is insane.
Plain and simple.

Bynum + Vujacic (and picks) would probably work better since Vujacic is an expiring and a rebuilding team like Cleveland would have no use for a player like Artest.
