Acie Law IV

Post#1 » by RJM » Mon Mar 15, 2010 7:58 am

So many of you have grown tired of Jordan Farmar's inconsistency I see, right? Well I know exactly who to replace him with next summer. How about Acie Law IV?

Mr. Law in action - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bzy_ja_9yLM

Plus - The man is a big guard to the tune of 6'4, and would be Phil's dream alongside Javaris Crittenton's return to the Lakers. Thoughts?

How's his BB IQ? Screw it. If it means taking away minutes from Fisher, Farmar, and Sasha, I'm game.

I would do it. Young, big, cheap and talented during his limited minutes. I think he'd do just fine here.

Hawks fan here. Acie Law blows and has no confidence whatsoever.

If it's an issue of confidence then a change of scenery might do him good. See: Trevor Ariza, Shannon Brown.

^Yep agreed, phil and kobe always empower the players here. I bet if Law or Crittenton came here and put in the work we'd have some good rotation players for cheap. I think that's one of Kobe's greatest strengths the last 5 years, he shows faith in his teammates and always helps the mentally fragile step up their game (see Smush Parker/Kwame Brown).

For every Trevor Ariza and Shannon Brown there's a Adam Morrison and Vlad Radmanovic.

This. Phil is a good coach, but he's not a miracle worker.

The key being willing to put in the hard work like was said above. Trevor and Shannon put in the work. Adam and Vlad did not.

I'd take Critt over Law for a minimum spot. Critt has shown some flashes both in his short LA stint and with the Wiz before Gungate. He could do well to come 'home' and find an eventual starting spot that LA saw in drafting him, and should be a very cheap pickup after all that has gone on.
Kobe could counsel him in the ways of repairing his jacked image while Fisher trains him up on how to be an upstanding citizen, and make it another Laker coup in the end.

Acie Law hasn't exactly been the model of consistency himself.

Well he is listed at 6'3 and 205. Not sure that makes him a big point guard. Averaging 3 points a game. Not sure that is worth a long look. I can see the same in Fisher and he knows the system and the triangle.

Lakers do need to up grade there point guards this off season. I give Fisher all the credit in the world and he is still doing it at 35 or so. I like to see him back next year if we win the championship. Farmer, just depends on how much money he wants as a RFA.

we can just use the MLE for a point guard, re-sign Brown. Maybe Fisher, and keep him fresh for the playoffs.
Luke Ridnour would be a nice player for some of the MLE.

Ideally I'd like to get 2 vet PGs that can share the mins at that spot and keep Shannon as back up SG. Someone like Foye and Crittenton splitting time at PG would be ideal with Fisher as a back up. It'd be like auditioning for the first half of the season and the better player gets the bigger chunk of playoff minutes.

Why no one has ever brought up Ridnour I think this guy is solid. He has a high Bball IQ and can knock down the 3 like no body bizness. I don't know about his defense though.

If we choose to keep our two centers and use the MLE, I'd sign Mike Miller for 5 mill per to be our PG/6th Man and sign Mardy Collins for the vet's minimum to be my role-playing PG/Starter.

Acie Law and Javaris Crittenton could both be effective in the triangle though.

What's happened to Farmar all of a sudden his minutes have been cut? He's been playing well hasn't he?
