Who would you like to face in the first round of the playoffs??
Seeing how the W/C last 4 seeds 5-8 are probably going to be either OKC, Spurs, Portland and the NUNS. My question is who would you like to see us play in the first round of the playoffs.
Also lets see who can guess our first opponent correctly. I believe it will be the NUNS.

I'd prefer to play Phoenix or OKC. OKC has no playoff experience, so it would be a great deteriment to them. phoenix's style isn't that good in the playoffs, and we killed them both times this year on our home floor, taking one in phoenix recently. Also, it woudl be sweet revenge to take phoenix out in the first round after those consecutive years of first round exits

Doesn't matter really. PHX could be dangerous, but don't think they could beat us, we are too big and too physical and would win in 5 or 6 likely. OCK doesn't match up well, KD woudl have it rough vs Artest, pretty easy series. SA could be tough with Parker back and Ginobli and Jefferson playing well, similar to PHX though, doesn't think they can stop us and we'd finish it quick.
Honestly Portland would probably be the toughest and get us playing the best going into the second round.

I doubt well face Phoenix. Well play against the Blazers, probably the worst for us. Id prefer the Suns or Oklahoma.

I hope we get OKC in the 1st round. We'd get to watch a great young player in Durant, but also get to watch a young inexperienced team get torn up by the defending champs.

Don't care, I feel confident the Lakes will go to the Finals, it's our playoff opponent in the final, Imitation Crab I'm worried about.

Me too. And HCA would be the key. More than LeCrab, the refs trying to give him his first ring. Some dejavu with the Big Three in 2008.....We'd start losing 2-0 in that face-up....

yeah you know they love James to death. I would love to meet them in the finals and beat the in 4 games tho. I think the eastern conference would shut down as a whole...lol

Like LL once said, line them up & put me on, Arsenio Hall, so we can battle them all! In essence it doesn't matter as long as we're healthy & on our game we should be cool.

We'll have no proble with the first or second round, its who ever we face in the conferenc finals thats when we'll have to step it up even more. I'm counting on Dallas to beat the Nuggets in 7 tho and for them to be to damn tired to face us in the next round. Who ever comes out of the east will be battle worn because that wont be any easy task even for the Cavs.

Ya I was watching the Pistons game and I couldnt believe how many calls he got that were not even close to being a foul. Its was like the reffs had something going on for Lefail. I swear every call was a foul. I have never seen such a tough guy that is suppose to be such a bad arse getting so many weak arse calls. Its going to be hard playing the Cavs their bench and their 6th and 7th and 8th man wearing the black and white come finals. I swear this will be a replay of the Heat Mavs finals lets help Wade and Shaq Bullllllllllllll S**t all over again.

The Thunder would be the ideal opponent in the 1st round. The Lakers need to be able to get out of the 1st round in 5 games or less, and the Thunder are tailor made for such a series. OKC has a good young team that will challenge in the future, but I feel they might suffer a bit of stage fright come playoff time.

The only Teams that worry me (in the West) are the Mav's and Nugg's, hopefully the Lakers will NOT have to face both of them with our nagging injuries...

The Race for the #8 seed

so, with 11 games left for the lakers, and a 6 game lead on whoever the #2 seed is (mavs and nugs seem to both want to give it up), its probably a good time to see who the lakers could be facing in the 1st round.
The Contenders:
6. Oklahoma City 43-27 12 games left
7. San Antonio Spurs 42-28 12 games left
8. Portland TrailBlazers 42-29 11 games left
Tie Breakers:
okc 1 vs. por 1 - TIE, 2 games left
okc 1 vs. sas 3 - SAS owns tie breaker over OKC
sas 0 vs. por 3 - POR owns tie breaker over SAS
The Remaining Schedule:
Blazers: vs Dal, @ NO, @ OKC, vs NY, @ Den*, @ Sac, @ LAC, vs Dal, @ LAL, vs OKC*, vs GS
Spurs: vs Cle, @ Bos, @ NJ*, vs Hou, vs Orl, @ LAL, @ Sac, @ Pho*, vs Mem, @ Den*, vs Min, @ Dal
Thunder: vs LAL, vs Por, @ Phi, @ Bos*, @ Dal, vs Min, @ Uta, vs Den*, vs Pho, @ GS, @ Por*, vs Mem
* = back to back
My Predictions:
looking at the schedules first,
i'm giving POR 6 wins (NO, NY, SAC, LAC, OKC, GS) w/ a max 8 wins (beating okc twice not just once, and one win against DAL).
i'm giving SAS 5 wins (NJ, HOU, SAC, MEM, MIN) w/ a max 6 wins (DAL, last game, they might be prepping for playoffs and a possible matchup with SAS).
i'm giving OKC 5 wins (POR, PHI, MIN, GS, MEM) w/ a max 5 wins (don't see them winning any of the losses i marked them down for) and likely 4 wins if POR gets two against them.
if my predictions hold true, the blazers and spurs would be tied, and with the tie breaker going to the blazers, the lakers would be looking at the spurs in the playoffs w/ tony parker back in the lineup.
if my max predictions hold true, the thunder (just 4 wins, two losses vs. POR) would slide down to the 8th seed and face the lakers. i think this is the most desirable matchup as far making it easy to get to the 2nd round.
it appears that the current 8th seed, blazers, due to their two matchups against the thunder which includes the thunder playing a b2b in portland, are poised to get out of that spot and move up. I think this would actually be the best matchup for the lakers as far as providing an intense playoff atmosphere that gets the team ready for the 2nd round but still doesn't pose as much of a threat as a veteran spurs team with parker back.
anywhoo, all guess work but something we should start to keep track of.
