nice to see Pau getting back into form as the playoffs approach. ultimately thats all that mattered.
"Pau Gasol left Sunday's game against the Wizards holding a stack of about a dozen cut-out photos of his head on popsicle sticks, taking home a few souvenirs after the 18,997 people in attendance at Staples Center were given the "Pau-sicles" as part of the league's Noche Latina promotion.
It was a big end to a big week for Gasol, as the NBA announced Monday that he was named the Western Conference player of the week for games played March 15-21.
The 7-foot forward averaged 24.8 points, 11.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.0 block while shooting 68.5 percent (third best in the NBA) from the field. The Los Angeles Lakers went 4-0 during the week, beating Golden State, Sacramento, Minnesota and Washington.
Gasol will receive a plaque of commendation from the league, but the giveaway on Sunday was already a good enough prize for the three-time All-Star.
"It was cool," Gasol said. "I hope that the fans had fun with it, that they don't throw them away, that they don't do anything weird with them. ... It was cool to see 20,000 Pau's heads hanging out in the stands.
