Hypothetical- Gilbert Arenas in Purple and Gold

Fun idea. All hypothetical. Since Arenas has been in the news recently. I wondered....
Lets say Arenas is allowed to play in the NBA next year after serving is community service and all. And the Wizards terminate his contract. And for some reason he just wants to win and is willing to play for the MLE.
Should the Lakers try to pursue him to replace fish? Will there be enough shots for everyone? (Kobe, Pau, Arenas, Artest, Odom and Bynum)
Just wanted to hear what the Laker Nation have to say.
Sorry if this has already been discussed.

IDK Arenas doesn't strike me as the "wanting to win over money" type of guy.

I don't think he's what we need. Arenas is mainly a guy who looks to score, and his 3-point percentage doesn't really leave my mouth watering. Defensively he's nothing to write home about either, although I haven't seen a whole lot of him in the past two seasons (who has?). Leadership? Non-existent. He's a good play-maker and ball-handler, but do we really need that? He doesn't strike me as the type of guy that's going to accept a 4th option type role either, which is what he would be at best. He's a good player, but just not what I think we need.

He's got one of the worse contracts out there. Will be interesting to see if his contract can get voided. I rather take my chances on Crittenton.

i say take him for the MLE but no more. just a hypothetical becuase i agree he wouldn't accept lower money. he needs to buy more guns to replace the ones he got confiscated.

Ish we all know if that was me or anybody else on here we would be facing 10 to life for the same ish he did. F***in money buys you everything even our justice system.
Skip him, he's trash and we dont need his sorry arse on our team. I would rather have Sasha even though I dispise him over this arsehole.

Arenas for the MLE? haha It would take 2 very unlikely events to take place.
1. Arenas gets his contract voided.
2. Arenas takes far less than market value to play as a 3rd option.
Hey, maybe you guys will get Yao Ming for the LLE if he opts out.
CT: Ming/ Bynum
PF: Gasol/ Odom
SF: Artest/ Walton
SG: Bryant/ Vujacic
PG: Arenas/ Fisher
You guys really need to address point guard. You really need a guy that can space the floor and play some D.

Problem is, even if you take Zero (Or, Agent Six, now?) out of the equation, Odom is still averaging 10 ppg. In my mind, that's not enough shots for him, alone, let alone putting a proven gunner in the equation.

Well since everyone is a CON to this idea, I will play devils advocate.
Arenas would be a major upgrade now for the mle. our point guards are just plain bad. fisher is already getting $5.015 million this year and he looks terrible to be honest. fisher's 3pt shooting has dramatically dropped ~5% and cannot create shots for himself or others. For the same amount of money, Arenas is just the better choice.
Arenas will space the floor much better then fisher. Here is why, when kobe or pau gets double teamed, the ball usually kicks back out to the PG. When the ball kicks out the fisher, he can shoot (35% 3pt) or a quick pass but will not drive that ball in. That extra pass will be to artest or odom which both IMO are terrible 3pt shooters.
But if that was Arenas, he could shoot the long ball or drive-in to create an easy basket for himself or someone else. Driving in will collapse the defense; leaving open mid-jumpers. This was what Ariza brought to the table last year and it really looks like we are still searching for someone to fill his role.

The LAL need a D Rose, R Westbrook type PG, not a primadonna fun n gun, he's not a triangle PG. As a second round pick I suggest Jon Schreyer, my Dukie PG, led the nation in asst/to ratio is an expert shooter, has good size 6' 5", the smartest guy on the court, protects the ball well for a PG, would be a perfect fit for the triangle. Defense he'd at least work, but offensively he'd be a great fit.

Haha jokes on you fool. LLE doesn't exist anymore. Feel free to try out your own BAE though. 'Cept the Lakers don't have it this summer, hahaha jokes on you fool.
BTW, how did this thread survive the soupnazi's?
Oh now I got it! If you put Hypothetical in front it doesn't get moved. Ancient chinese secret.
