Kobe's Sex Scandal

so, yeah... lots of sex scandals in the news right now... tiger, big ben, jesse james, etc...

...and is it just me, or are all these other people receiving 1/4 of the media hate/ scrutiny that kobe got... when kobe was exposed in colorado it was liKe OMG... the dude was receiving hate everywhere for cheating on his wife. he had to have a news conference. it was insanity. and that hate followed him for years... for cheating on his wife.

and now with all these other allegations. people seem to be upset, but's more of an afterthought and not as much media coverage/ scrutiny and consequently will likely be forgotten more quickly...

if kobe got caught cheating in the midst of all these other cheaters... who knows maybe he wouldnt have lost as many sponsors.

I think Kobe's got more publicity because he was accused of rape... His trial was ongoing through the course of a season in which the Lakers were favorites to win it all...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Tiger and James weren't accused of rape and Ben's accusations seem bogus (or at least less serious than Bryant's were)

and "retiring at 3000 posts" lol

Not sure how you can jump to this conclusion especially with Ben having been accused twice and the 2nd young lady having a bruise to the head that Ben claims "was an accident."

i agree with most of this. there's a big difference between tiger facing a possible split with his wife versus kobe facing a long time in prison. as for ben, i think its more about him not being that big of a star. he's not a household name.

This is the second time Ben has been accused. He deserves more media scrutiny then he has gotten so far.

I said correct me if I'm wrong because I havent really followed the story... Only heard bits and pieces of it on sportscenter... I'm not a huge football fan either so I dont know much about Ben or his past accusations... From what I heard about this story though, the accusations sounded kinda sketchy.. I could be very wrong though

The media hated Kobe from the start any way, it made it easier to discredit him in front of the nation.

There hasn't been much to report on this. He hasn't been charged and there is next to no information coming out on it right now. I'm sure there will be plenty of media attention on this if they actually do file charges against him.

Kobe's incident happened and then there weren't any other high profile "sex scandals" so all of the attention was focused on him, with Tiger, Asher Ben Roth, and James for the most part it was bang bang bang and the media's attention has been divided ever since.

It also doesn't help that the media made Kobe the fall guy when the Lakers dynasty came to an end.

some points, kobe was a media/nba darling at the time, squeeky clean image, lakers everyone loves(or hates) strong opinions either way for a laker. the analogy would be if jeter was accused of that. this was also at the zenith of the shaq/kobe pissing match(another l.a. times production imho) .

also it was the first of its kind, so the immense shock is far less great the second time around.

that said, jesse james is a moron, tiger was a nerd ,and very young still with an assload of ends, somewhat a pass there, big ben, i dont even know whats going on there.

The Kobe situation was different like Tiger we grew up wth Kobe. We watched him grow from his teens, win with the Lakers, date teen clelebs and thought awww how cute is he. Then he gets married and boom he is accused of rape not audultry but rape. One report said he strangled the girl wow and don't let me start on all the anonymous stuff that was being said about the Laker crew back then by other NBA players! Most of all those rumors were about Shaq and Kobe's other extra maritial stuff. So it really exploded on him. The Kobe before was squeeky clean. He is just now recovering. Tiger probabaly wont suffer as long becuase honestly who watches golf? :wink:

He probably has chicks on the side anyways

Unless he's accused of rape or something it won't matter because he's not married to her so its technically not adultery and well I'm going to go there in that she's black the mainstream media doesn't care about a black woman cheated on compared to a white woman.
