"VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) -The Vancouver Canucks signed forward Alex Burrows to a four-year, $8 million contract extension Tuesday night, avoiding the possibility of losing the gritty winger as an unrestricted free agent.

The 27-year-old Burrows is having a career year, setting personal highs with 16 goals and 33 points in 62 games heading into Tuesday night. He started in his usual role as an agitating checker, but was promoted to the top line with Daniel and Henrik Sedin 10 games ago, and has four goals and nine points since."

Solid signing for 2 million a year, Burrows is a good all-round player who can grind it out on the 4th line or step in for an offensive punch as a top 6 forward. Good value signing for Vancouver.
