Forget firing Wilson, give him a lifetime extension. As if anyone ever thought he could get out of Heatley's contract.

He could've had so much more for Heatley. For example, I'm sure a team that's starving for offense, like Nashville or Boston, could've offered Suter or another defenseman to land him.

I think the chances of Nashville offering Suter for Heatley were slim to none.

At the very least the Wild will be interesting to watch next year.

I doubt anyone was jumping at the opportunity to take Heatley's 7.5 mil. His skating is truly awful, he's terrible defensively and he was a no show in the playoffs the last two years.

If he couldn't play well playing for a cup contender in San Jose, what's he going to do in Minny? who are definitely not a playoff team.

Not a chance anything close to that was happening, or it would have happened sooner. His cap hit is huge and he is declining very rapidly.

Yeah, I agree with this.

I was shocked to see this trade, it just came out of nowhere. While I don't love it as a Sharks fan, I like it for the speed we get in Havlat and the fact that he earns 2.5M less than Heater, which will be huge in re-signing guys like Couture. I'm not sure we got much faster as a team this offseason since we traded away Seto, but we did get better defensively.

Well this is a shocker. Heatley's been pretty terrible over the last couple years but if he can turn it around this is going to be a steal for Minny. But if he doesn't the Wild are screwed, his cap hit is massive.
