I'm well aware of what the suspension is for. I'm commenting on everyone calling it a late hit, like some of the posts in this thread.

Umm first of all I am not a Hawks fan at all in fact I hate that team. I am a Red Wings mod on here so if your going to call out people at least get your facts right. Secondly if you can't see how Raffi Torres is a dirty player then I don't know what to tell you but take off the Coyote colored sunglasses. The guy is a repeat offender who is just out to hurt people. I wouldn't want him near my team he makes Avery look like a Lady Bing trophy winner.

I think Shanny is going to have to suspend him for a good chunk like 5+ games easily. There was no need for his headhunting

Yep, I believe they were saying it's the end of the Luongo era in Vancouver but I don't see it. Schneider's going to get a lot of money and Luongo makes a ton for a backup so you have to trade him but who's going to take him? He's 33 and has a $6.7ish million salary for the next six years and a $5.3ish million cap hit. That's an albatross contract they're stuck with imo.

Yeah Roberto's pretty untradable. I think Schneider is an RFA, so hope someone pays him a ton and grab the compensation, right?

Nice gif BTW, i laughed. And then cried. Because it was an awful ****ing play

Who the heck is this holtby character? Was he a prized goalie prospect or is he just some regular joe who is stealing the series for the caps?

He has the potential to be a #1 goalie. Don't freak out. :)

Just got back from Game 4. It's as simple as the Hawks not having the pieces necessary to play in the postseason consistently. Big, physical guys who can get in front of the net and clean things up. It's a skill team that doesn't have the capability to play dirty. Really the only guy on this team who can do that is Shaw, but I digress.

What's really baffling is how they can't find any sort of energy until their backs are against the wall in the third period. Now three times they've done it. With a team with this much talent, you shouldn't have to flip a switch as the clock is running down to get back into the game. It's the playoffs, for Christ's sake.

You just described the Wings to a T

Chicago and Detroit are built in very similar ways. It's nice to have so much finesse, but at the end of the day you need some big, mean mofos who are going to make things happen and not take crap. Neither of us have enough of those guys. Detroit needs to get alot younger too.

I think both our teams need to make a few adjustments in the offseason. Heres to hoping

I find that the Blues have a lot of similarities to the Wings of the late-90's/early-00's, only without the elite forwards. Physical, team defense, puck possession, excellent special teams. I underrated them; I thought the Sharks would have a lot more success than this.

110% agreed. It's why a first round series between these two would have been amazing. But they both drew matchups that don't fit their style. But you need to play physical in the postseason to win. When you can't, you're ****ed.

On the bright side, this probably means hitting the reset button in San Jose. What a giant missed opportunity.

The Wings need Ryan Suter AND Rick Nash in the offseason to be a Cup contender again. First round exit should be a big wakeup call that middling forwards like Abdelkader, Miller, Holmstrom are playing more minutes than they should be.

On another note, I do like Nashville and hope they continue on and win another series. Great organization, I really like the jobs Poile and Trotz do on a regular basis.

To a degree, yeah. I think Detroit needs to cut the stubborn outlook we have taken for a couple decades and make some wholesale changes to our team. Because this one is not made to compete for a title and we have pretty much every forward (13!) signed next season. That's a problem

Abdelkader and Miller are fine in 4th line roles. Homer and Hudler should not be resigned under any circumstances. The defense is going to have some big turnover (Lidstrom should retire and Stuart is going back to Cali methinks). The Bertuzzi contract is somehow even worse today than it was when he signed it (it's awful). We need to deal some guys and bring back a tough, blue collar team. Alot of work to be done, but we got the guys to do it. Luckily we have a ton of cap space and some really good young guys like Nyquist and Smith ready to come up. God knows we won't play them correctly or at all but here's to hoping.

Congrats to Nashville though, they're doing it right. I'll be rooting for them.
