Home ice has been huge, there have been fights, warnings from the league, goons, great goals. . . .just a great series so far.
It has been a fun one. That second period last night...holy s***. Although there's a gift basket on the Flames front porch from Cam Barker, Brian Campbell and Brent Seabrook, who all had direct hands in the three Flames goals in the 2nd.
I have to ask what your opinions of Keenan are, not as an in-game coach but his off-ice tactics. Do you think they're working?
I said Hawks in 7 but was certainly hoping they could pull out last night's game. Winner of Saturday wins the series, in my mind, which I know isn't that big of a ledge to go out on, but still.
I agree. . .i think game 5 in this series might as well be a game 7. . . .although this series has the potential to offer an epic game 7.
There were a lot of givaways going both ways. On Chicago's 2nd and 3rd goals (i think) they came right off Flames players sticks. . .especially Ollie. He was on fire offensivly, but sat in the box while Chicago tied it and i am pretty sure could have gotten an assist on 2 of Chicagos goals. You take the good with the bad though. . he has been probably our best forechecker in the two games at home.
Kennan. . .i dont know. To be honest, its really tough to get a feeling.
On one hand, last season he got a career year out of Iginla. . and that says something. Then on the other hand, this season Jarome has taken a step back.
On one hand, he is getting a ton out of our 3rd and 4th lines all year. .regardless of who is in there. On the other hand, you should be getting a lot more out of a Jarome, Jokinen, Bertuzzi, Cammy, Lankow combo.
Dion seems to have too much pressure on him all the time, and that stems a lot from the coach.
I think the toughest thing against Keenan is who is sitting in the box above the rink. Everyone in Calgary would LOVE to have Sutter back behind the bench, so you really have to do nothing short of win the cup for fans to stop turning to Sutter.
As far as this series. . .well, i really think Chicago is a better team talent wise. . they are faster, more skilled, have great D men, great role players. . . Calgary is right up there, but i think Chicago has the skill. I think Calgary is better mentally, and better prepared for the long haul. I take game 3 as an example. Every Hawk was chirping to Jarome (enough to get a 'warning' from the league) and in the 3rd, Keenan wouldnt put Iginla out. He only played like 3.5 minutes in the 3rd. IMO, Keenan knew Jarome would drop the gloves with anyone. . and you really dont need that. What happens, Jarome gets a goal 4 minutes into game 4. So i guess to answer your question, i thought he would be a lot more vocal with the media, pointing out players in the crease and stuff like that. I dont think he has crossed any lines, and i think he has managed his locker room really well. So far i am satisfied. . .but would much rather be up 3-1 as opposed to 2-2
