I really like what Tampa's doing so far. They've gotten a bunch of high picks for three players they didn't plan on keeping.

Tampa has two 1st and four 2nd round picks :o Stevie Y stocking up on youth

My favorite quote about the Quincey deal:

But once more, with feeling: KEN HOLLAND JUST TRADED A FIRST FOR A GUY HE CUT IN 2008 AND EVERYONE'S COOL WITH IT.

I actually liked Quincey on Tampa, a team that needed another young defenseman. But Quincey is not worth a first, even if it will fall 25+. so good job on Yzerman.

Getting a first for Downie is incredible value. Stevie Y definitely stole this one.

Antoine Vermette to Phoenix for Ottawa's 2012 2nd, 2013 conditional 4th and Curtis McElhinney.

I guess Columbus found their young(ish) goalie...?

Rumor out there is the Preds and Habs are about to make another trade. Andrei Kostitsyn and Yannick Weber for Matt Halischuk and a 1st.

The Jackets getting McElhinney kinda makes me think they're shopping Mason aggressively.

I like the idea of the Preds getting Andrei Kostitsyn. He's been in the doghouse in Montreal lately but the guy can score and reuniting him with his brother isn't exactly a bad idea.

He did win a Calder, although his career has gone completely downhill from there. But he's still only 23 and there's lots of time for him to turn it around. I'm still not convinced he's another Andrew Raycroft, but I could be wrong.

Just curious why Rangers fans don't want Nash?

Columbus doesnt have many quality young D so Johnson can be a good foundation back there, and LA didnt overpay for Carter's past performance. Carter is a winger, not a center, and playing beside Kopitar or Richards should help him revert back to 35-goal form.

Like the Carter deal for both sides. KIngs get a much needed goal scorer and the Jackets get a solid young d-man to build around and another 1st.

Yeah that was my problem Carter should be a winger not a C playing with Anze and Richards should jump start his production again for him to be a 30+ goal scorer again.

Wonder who the next big name to go is?

Wild amazingly get great value for Marek Zidlicky. Kurtis Foster, Stephane Veilleux, Nick Palmieri, Washington's 2012 2nd and a conditional 2013 3rd round pick.

Foster and Veilleux suck and I don't know much about Palmieri but to get two picks of that quality for Zidlicky is great.

Why the **** did we resign Hemsky? He's been beyond horrible so we give him 10 million over 2 years? I mean he has 5 ****ing goals in 47 games.

Not only is he no longer a $5M talent, he is rarely healthy and never looks truly engaged. I think they should have gotten whatever they could for him and parted ways.
