I swear each year the trade deadlines gotten progressively slower. There was a time I'd check my phone and I'd see a plethora of new tweets in a matter of minutes featuring rumors or done deals. Now I'm refreshing over and over again and the average is like 2 new tweets every 5 minutes.

Save a tad bit of money I guess. Schultz provides more defense than offense, and probably more leadership. Kind of a wash deal though.

Aulie for Carter Ashton...good balanced trade for both teams. The Leafs had a glut of young defenseman, and Tampa needed some depth on the blue line. The Leafs get Ashton, someone they can build with, who projects to be a future top 6 player.

Word that the Canes will NOT be trading Bryan Allen today. So for all the talk of a Hurricane firesale from a couple weeks ago, they keep everyone. Interesting.

Ok, here we go.

2 more trades within the last few minutes.

Sammy Pahlsson traded to Vancouver. Great defensive depth move for the Canucks.

Brian Lee traded to Tampa from Ottawa for Matt Gilroy.

Daniel Winnik traded to San Jose, not sure what they got yet.

Edit- Winnik and T.J Galiardi packaged together with a 7th rounder, no word on a return.

Cheveldayoff: Oh, do ya?

Bowman: That works.

Nash stays in Columbus, which is a good move in my mind.

Yup always good to keep a guy who indicated he doesnt really want to be there and has said he will not change his list of teams that he would waive his no-trade clause for....

Though I understand they may get what they want in the summer, but there is no guarantee.

Also a 4th rounder to Nashville. Buffalo picks up a 1st rounder.

Bring in any sort of competent GM to build around one of the best players in the league, entice him to stay.

Why would Nash have any confidence in the current ownership/president to bring in a competent GM? And if he has already mentally parted himself from the franchise, there won't be any rebuilding the relationship.

Now that's an interesting move. Anyone know why these kids got swapped? I thought Hodgson was really starting to play well...
