ESPN.com - Bruins forward Mark Recchi retired on Wednesday night after winning his third Stanley Cup, according to an ESPN.com report.

The 43-year-old veteran announced his decision moments after Boston beat Vancouver 4-0 in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals. Recchi had one assist in the game.

"I'm done. Yeah that's it," Recchi said. "I couldn't ask for a better way to go out and to do it with this team was even more special. I love these guys. This is what we set out to do and we did it."

Happy to see him go out on top. One of my all time favorites and just a great all around player.

Good on him. Now he can finally get his degree as a doctor. He did a helluva job diagnosing them this season, so it should be a breeze for him.

Recchi did some sports talk interviews this season. He's a wine collector. They asked him what his most expensive one was and he said an 8,000 or something dollar bottle. They asked him when he would crack it open, and he said after we win the cup.

Here's to the finest tasting wine, you'll ever have Mr. Recchi!

Great career, great to see him end it on a good note.
